Hi Baby names! I'm looking for some assistance in giving suggestions to my very good friend who is due this month with her second little girl. So far the only name on her list is Layla, and that is the suggestion of her 3.5 year old daughter. Her grandma passed away recently so she'd like to honor her in some way, but doesn't particularly like her name, which is Maria Anna. Either a more unusual variation of one of those names or possibly just using the initials would make her happy. She has no other specific criteria to narrow it down. Her older daughter's name is De.lla B.rook
Does your friend like Layla or isn't so sold on it?
Some suggestions from Nymbler (www.nymbler.com) when I put in Della and Layla are:
Lena Amira Elsa Lila Lilia Ada
Will your friend be bothered by the same "a" ending in both her girl names? That would personally drive me nuts, but I know other people don't care.
For the middle name, what about Mariella (http://www.behindthename.com/name/mariella)? It's the Italian form of Maria and a bit of a switch up from Maria and Anna.

Personally the 'la' sound would keep me away from those names, but since her only choice right now is Layla, it clearly doesn't bother her. Lena was on her short list for her last kid, so maybe that would be in the running again.

There's just so much "a" happening in these names. Oy.
Of names that have been suggested (I do t have energy to come up with my own list...) I love Luna and Miren and yhink they would make a good sibset with Della. Especially Miren, I think. Also Silvia, Fiona, Beatrice.
