There was some interest in a high risk check in when I enquired a couple of weeks ago so I thought I'd start it. We can always make in fortnightly if there isn't much traffic :-)
1) Why are you classified as high risk? (I'll compile the answers to this so that we don't have to answer every time.)
2) Any hospital / doctor / other appointments this week?
Type II diabetes, history of high blood pressure, and PCOS. Also when I was four months pregnant last time I was diagnosed with an exceptionally rare heart condition (double chambered left ventricle), which sent everyone into a flat panic. I still have the condition, but since it didn't seem to be affected by my last pregnancy I'm hoping they will relax a bit this time!
I also have gallstones and carpal tunnel syndrome that both developed during my previous pregnancy, but they don't cause complications during pregnancy. They just get worse.
2) Any hospital / doctor / other appointments this week? None till May 17th. Waiting is hard. I am trying to speak to someone about adjusting my insulin injections but we keep missing each other.
3) How are you feeling physically? Emotionally? Not too bad. I'm on insulin injections once a day at present and it's taking a while for my blood sugar to respond. My diabetes is usually extremely well controlled by twice daily medication only,so it's a big adjustment during pregnancy to have to monitor four times a day and inject. The end result is worth it, though!
In terms of pregnancy symptoms, exhaustion is the worst at the moment, and having an outside baby definitely makes it a lot harder!
Emotionally I'm a wreck at the moment, but that's just pregnancy hormones!
4) GTKY: What is your favourite season, and why? What an odd question I picked this week... There are things I like about every season. I'm a bit apprehensive about summer this year as I haven't been pregnant in the summer before!
1) Why are you classified as high risk? (I'll compile the answers to this so that we don't have to answer every time.) -- I'm 36, attempting a VBA2C, I had weight loss surgery and now have serious nutritional issues, I have 2 copies of a MTHFR gene mutation, I have a history of hypertension (now under control without meds), PIH and preeclampsia, and had 2 preemies.
2) Any hospital / doctor / other appointments this week? -- Ultrasound on Friday, and I am waiting for a call from the perinatologist to schedule my first appointment with them.
3) How are you feeling physically? Emotionally? -- Pretty good, but exhausted.
4) GTKY: What is your favourite season, and why? -- Fall, for all the basic white girl Fall Love reasons. Sweaters, boots, leaves, pumpkin everything, Halloween and Thanksgiving, and most of all, the kids are back in school!
1) Why are you classified as high risk? MTHFR with multiple losses, AMA and prior Pre-E
2) Any hospital / doctor / other appointments this week? Yes. I have BW and U/S this Friday.
3) How are you feeling physically? Emotionally? Physically ok. Nausea likes to show up 10 am-1 pm and fatigue has been off and on. Last Saturday I took a 4 hr nap! Emotionally trying to not to stress out. I take a lot of meds in 1st tri (including injections) so I'm just trying to take it one day at a time. But I get worried when I make a bad food choice because of salt content. Like fresh cheese or popcorn. I really don't want to go thru pre-e again.
4) GTKY: What is your favourite season, and why? Favorite season is Spring. It's warm and sunny (usually) but not too hot.
1) Why are you classified as high risk? (I'll compile the answers to this so that we don't have to answer every time.) Type 2, diagnosed at 22, so similar in aspects to type 1. I just tell people 2. I've been on an insulin pump for over a year as we TTC and I have a CGM. Love the pump!
2) Any hospital / doctor / other appointments this week? None, so I'm actually due on 1/6 but with the T2 they will deliver me 2 weeks early which would be Dec. but i got excited about this thread.
3) How are you feeling physically? Emotionally? Tired, and my BS is all over the place. Super Excited, this is our first, but also a bit stressed and anxious, how to tell work, family, being high risk.
4) GTKY: What is your favourite season, and why? Fall, mostly because I don't like to sweat, Spring is a close second, but cleaning up the mud after the dogs drives me crazy. its a short trip to crazy for me obviously.
I find pregnancy difficult because of the way my BS numbers go crazy. I'm very well controlled most of the time on just Metformin. I started insulin injections at five weeks this time. Still only once a day, but I'm pretty sure that'll be increased at my next appointment. I just have to keep reminding myself that the numbers don't mean I'm eating badly (because I'm not), they just mean I'm pregnant.

Hi, stepping in here!
1) Why are you classified as high risk? (I'll compile the answers to this so that we don't have to answer every time.) History of preeclampsia with a previous pregnancy, also 2 previous losses. 2 myomectomies make me a scheduled C to boot. I am not allowed to go into labor due to risk of uterine rupture.
2) Any hospital / doctor / other appointments this week? Nothing until next week. Even the high risk OB doesn't want to see me until 7 weeks.
3) How are you feeling physically? Emotionally? Will feel better once we get a positive ultrasound and get to see a heartbeat.
4) GTKY: What is your favourite season, and why? Winter! It's so pretty. I love curling up under a blanket and reading a book.
