I don't agree with the author's line of thought. Yeah, my dogs drive me crazy, but I'm glad we got them before having a kid, rather than doing it after. Of course it probably helps that we have a short coated breed that is very low grooming maintenance and is also extremely family-friendly. But let's be honest: the kid does just as good of a job at being a pain in the ass as the dogs do.
I'm sure that there really are a lot of people out there, though, that agree with the author and wish they hadn't gotten a dog before they had kids.
Geez lady. My pets (1 dog, 2 cats) definitely get less attention since DS came along, but I don't freakin' hate them. I still love them, they're just not the center of our world anymore. This article also made me not want more kids. Maybe she should have stopped at one? Ha!
Yeah I didn't agree on her take on pets. Although I have cats not a dog. I am somewhat neglecting my cats but I love them and hope to get back to spoiling them soon. Her description of the chaos made me more stressed about the other kids than the dog.
Ok I will be honest here, I started to read and didn't finish because work got hectic. Just thought I'd half of my normal 2 cents though:
I love my LO. I love my dog. My dog loves my LO. LO loves my dog. I am glad I have one of each, but the thought of two of either is terrifying. Both make me crazy SOMETIMES. BOTH MAKE HAPPY, SMILE, LAUGH DAILY.

I stopped reading after this line: " Now that he has a kid, he would happily drown the cats in the bathtub if it would help his son take a longer nap."

Oh and my 2 cents...I loved my dogs before Maddy, and I love them now that she is here. Do they stress me out some days when she is being fussy? Oh yes. Are there some days they don't get as many snuggles, attention or playtime as they used to? Of course. But overall things are mostly the same with the addition of a little baby who they LOVE.

WTAF.
I will admit that I didn't read the article at all but that line isn't inspiring me to ... I feel like that was an attempt at humor but saying you'd kill an animal is never funny in any context so humor NOT achieved. Yikes.

This article made me think having multiple kids was a lot to handle. I love the idea of having a dog. It will give DD someone to play with. Right now we rent a townhouse and would have to pay a pet deposit so it might be awhile. One day...
