Well I had a fast and furious labor and delivery! 5hours on the nose from start to finish.
We had an induction time of 0730. We arrived on time and we were set up in our room. At 0800, I was put on a super low dosage of pitocin. At 0815, my OB arrived and ruptured my water. The contractions started coming on pretty quickly and very intensely. Within 45mins, the contractions were on top of each other, and I had to have the nurse turn the pitocin off while we waited for anesthesia to come give me my epidural. Stopping the pitocin only slowed the contractions down, the pain was still just as intense.
Around 9am the anesthesiologist arrived and placed the epidural. This was so difficult to do because the contractions were every 2-3mins and so intensely painful. By 0945 the epidural was in place and I started having some relief. By 1030, I was numb and couldn't feel any of the contractions I was having, but my H told me that they were coming on top of each other and were stronger than the contractions I was having before the epidural. The nurse came in to check me and told me that I only went from 4cm to 5cm....... How with those type of contractions I only progressed 1cm is baffling.
For the next hour, my contractions intensified and I had to keep dosing myself with the epidural because I was having break through pain. By 1145, my nurse became suspicious that I might be progressing faster than they expected. She checked my cervix and told me that I was complete. She called my OB and he asked her to have me labor down for a bit. That bit lasted until my OB could get to my room at about 1230. I did about 4 sets of 3 pushes per contraction and at 1300 pst little Will.ow Ro.se was born weighing in at 6lbs 13oz and 20in long.
She is such a quiet mellow baby. The nurses and pedi all have commented on her sweet, quiet demeanor. Breastfeeding is going well, W loves to eat. My nips are killing me, but that is fine because I know that the pain will be a distant memory by next week.
TL;DR
Baby O2, Will.ow Ro.se was born 5/2/16 at 1pm after 5hours of labor. Weighing in at 6lbs 13oz and 20in long.
And now for the real reason everyone read this, a few pics!
