How was your Mothers' (Mother's) Day Celebration?

How did the celebration go yesterday? Was the day better than you expected, or a flop?  Any great gifts given or received?

It was fine - but then again, we don't really celebrate Mother's Day.

We went for an early lunch since each kid had to be at their respective activities at 1pm. I took C to his soccer game and L took G to his school play. We met up after and went for froyo with some of the other parents/kids from school. Friends of ours came over for a bit so the kids could play and then we grilled steaks after they left. L and G stayed up late working on a homework assignment he'd forgotten to mention. Just a regular crazy weekend!

It was fine. We went out for breakfast at a placed that serves vegan food. It was packed and R was over it in about 10 seconds. We busted out our phones which kept him entertained for awhile till our food came like an hour later. L was perfect, though I did have to wear him the whole time and keep my boob in his mouth.
Afterwards we went to a cool park and let R blow off steam till it started raining.

We exchanged gifts. I got two stamped rings with the boys' name on each one and for my wife I bought her this really cool necklace with each of our initials on it, so 4 in total.   It's so unique, and I I've never seen anything like this before.

We had a busy day, but it was good!

We Skyped with my mom and sisters in the morning. My sisters and I had commissioned a close friend of mine to paint a portrait of my mom and brother (my brother passed away last year) as a gift. My youngest sister gave the painting to my mom (we fedexed it last week), and my middle sister and I Skyped in when she gave it to her. My mom cried and said she loved it. Then she chatted with us and the kids (really just William obviously, but Lucie smiled haha).

After that we packed up the kids and drove to J's parents' house (about an hour away). While we were there we went to visit J's dad's best friend who has ALS and hasn't been able to meet Lucie yet. He and his wife were so happy to meet her. It was hard b/c he has declined a lot since we last saw him a few months ago. Also they have 2 crazy dogs and their house is currently under construction to make it handicap accessible.... soooo, containing William was a challenge. Then we went back to J's parents' house for a late lunch and hung out for a while with them and J's brother and his wife. We got back to our house a little bit before 5pm. It was a FULL day!

J seemed to like the photobook that I made her from the kiddos (thanks, Shutterfly! LOL)... and I gave her an amazon gift card from me -- so loves to order random odds and ends from amazon, so I usually get her a gift card from there for every occasion.

J got me a pair of bracelets that are very pretty and a Vera Bradley lanyard and change purse for my work ID and keys. Plus a very cute card from the kiddos and a little rock to put on my desk at work that she said they all hugged and kissed and I can touch it whenever I miss them when I am at work and it will be like they are giving me hugs and kisses

All in all it was a good day, but a long day. It's hard b/c it is a special day for a lot of people... we are both moms, and we both have moms... so it is a lot, but we try to make it special for everyone. I would be willing to give up any claim to mother's day as the kids get older if it made J happy. We will see...

We kept it pretty casual with brunch at noon followed by just spending the day together relaxing. Originally we planned to go to one of those paint your own ceramics places but decided to chose a different weekend when it wasn't so busy.

It started with M sleeping until 5:40 (doesn't happen too often)! Then each of us went out for a run (it was my longest postpartum run yet), and we had overnight French toast and grapefruit from a friend's tree for breakfast. After breakfast we all went to the barn (fun but not as relaxing now that M is here). Went to Anthropologie so I could return a dress. Afterwards we visited with a friend and M took a good nap in the ergo (she was so tired she peacefully fell asleep sitting up on our friends lap. We transferred her to the ergo and she never woke up). Ended with a quick grocery store trip and separate dinners out of necessity (CET bathed M while I ate and I fed M while CET ate). It was a nice day and we were grateful that CET didn't have to go into the office but it felt pretty busy and not too different than a regular Sunday.
