Funny that you brought up jury duty today jennybeans, MH received his summons notice to serve a few weeks ago and it made me realize that I've now lived in my house for over 3 years and haven't been called to serve since I moved to the state.
Guess what was waiting in my mailbox when I went home for lunch...
Oh no! Hopefully yours is better than mine at least!

Only 1 day (unless you get picked for a trial) as opposed to a week so I'd say it has to be! I'll be 30 weeks the day I was called to serve so I can't imagine they'd ever keep me around for a trial!

Ok question about showers. I kinda like the idea of people bringing a book instead of cards and having people write a message in them for baby. But I keep coming up against what happens if I end up with more then one of the same book is anyone else thinking of doing something like this or would you just skip it?

I would still do it. Maybe whoever is organizing can ask people to let them know what books they've gotten?
If not, oh well. Multiples of the same book is no big deal.
Good point. I should go look for the info on how I get my insurance company to do that.
I think we're down to just the major furniture for the room, decorations, and some more outfits, etc.
I was actually planning to call my insurance company today and see what they say. I've read some comments online that Cigna provides a rental, not your own, and I'm hoping that's changed. Guess I'll see what they say later.
I'm sure it depends on coverage, but I have Cigna and I got my own Medela pump with DS (2 years ago). I think I had a choice of two from a medical supply company.

This exactly except I have Aetna. I could choose from 2 different pumps and I can get a new one every 3 years.

Good to know! I have a pretty good plan so hopefully I'll get my own. Ended up forgetting to call today. Try again tomorrow!

I would still do it and don't worry if you get some duplicates. There are tons of books out there and everyone has their favorites so you may not (hopefully) get many duplicates.
Also, let the pregnancy cravings begin. I normally *hate* peaches. But standing in the produce area of the grocery store today I found myself loading a bunch of peaches into my cart, and now I'm having one with dinner.

For me lately it's been hamburgers. This boy is all about the meat and potatoes.

I ate pounds and pounds of peaches every week in my last trimester with DD. I was obsessed. Yum!!

We did this with my shower. I didn't get too many duplicates and the ones that I did, I gave to my mom and MIL to keep at their houses.

Ditto for me, and I was closer to vegan then not before getting pregnant. H loves it.
I'm late to the party today. We had a great weekend visiting family. H had to rent a car and stay an extra day for work. DD and I managed to turn a 7 hour drive into 9 hours but we made it. I got the joy of listening to Frozen, Little Mermaid, and Cinderella in the car.

Sorry about the surprise expense with the chimney theophania. That's cool that they did the gutters for you though. Hopefully the next thing is uneventful with no added surprises/cost!
fem glad you two made it home safely! And I'm right here with you, just s few days past half-baked. It's so crazy that we're all this far along already though!
I'm in the minority that I don't like it when people ask for a book instead of a card. I hate buying cards anyway, so I think some people will just do it on their own. Especially in the age of Pinteret.
To me, it's like asking for yet another item, although I 100% understand the sentiment. The compromise would be something like "if you feel so inclined, bring a book instead of a card. We are working on growing the baby's library" or something like that.

That's a good way to word it. I've only been to one shower that did the book thing and it was definitely written on the invitation as a if you don't mind request not a demand.
Plus some cards have gotten so expensive there are tons of baby books that would be cheaper than a card!

OMG I HAAAAAAATE buying cards. Like LOATHE. $5.50 for a piece of effing paper? I have stamps from my Stampin' Up obsession many moons ago, and I might just start making my own!!
At work we were going to do some kind of card exchange and then that never happened. I need to revive that.

MH and I stopped at CVS Saturday to pick up Mother's Day cards for his mom and grandma, and we each got a drink. We get in the car after and he goes "did he really say that was $18?" The cards were $6 and $7 and were nothing that special!! No singing, no pop up anything, nothing!! Ridiculous!!
It takes me forever to pick out a card because it needs to be a good card and less than $4.99. Preferably even cheaper.

Potty training continues. ZombieBoy is basically pee trained, but has ongoing constipation issues that have resulted in small amounts of poop leakage. Because of that I've been keeping him in pull ups. Except that now he's refusing to wear the ones we have, so he's in undies and I'm hoping for the best as I rush him to the potty at the slightest hint of pooping. Wish me luck, guys.
