I have jury duty this week and apparently my county is "proud" to hold the title of the most civil and criminal cases in the state (the lady doing intros said it like it was a good thing... I don't feel good about that as a resident) so we actually have to sit in a room for a week and wait (although they said they could start to release people at 3 days). I'll just be working from here for the most part so I don't die of boredom.
I lived in a different state before and had to do jury duty once - you had to report one day out of the week for assignment or dismissal and it was actually surprisingly smooth. This just seems like a poor use of our time and not any easier or more difficult to manage than having this room full of people split into 5 groups!

jennybeans, I secretly have always wanted to sit on a jury(FFMC?)...but the selection process you're being subjected to sounds terrible! FX you get dismissed ASAP.
And just to make it better, some old lady is sitting at a table nearby waxing on about how awful vaccinations are and how her grandkids aren't being vaccinated. She's telling some other woman about how her kids symptoms for something are obviously related to vaccinations.
Eta- and she just made the comment "my doctor said that pediatrician a will never stop recommending vaccinations because they make too much money off them". At least the 3 people she's talking to are older and obviously don't have very young children.

That sounds incredibly mind numbing. Hooe you can find something fun to pass the time.

As for me I need to do some cleaning, but I really don't want to. I also need to sit down and really work on the registry considering we had to plan the shower like super early (end of june) but everytime I do I get overwhelmed and distracted.

This is how our county does Jury Duty - you report the first day for an orientation type session, they pick the people they want for the day, and then if you weren't picked you go home. There's a call-in line that you call after 4pm each day that tells you if you have to report the next day or not.
My county also reimburses you for mileage driven to get to the courthouse and parking once you're there, so this saves them a bunch of money.

I just put this in my Weekly Check-in post, but I realized yesterday we're less than 4 months from my due date and it suddenly made me really uncomfortable that I haven't done anything yet. I'll be taking a trip to Babies 'R Us this weekend to hopefully just get me started.
I got walloped with a head cold late last week. I made it through the weekend halfway living, even managing to help clean up a neighborhood park and go shopping with my mom. But today, my body and brain have had enough and have gone on strike. But I'm so far behind on work that I can't really afford a day off. But then again, I'm getting literally nothing done because I'm so foggy.

I finally got a few things added to ours - stroller/car seat combo (plus extra base), a K'Tan, some burp clothes, bottles, breast pump, some infinity scarves that work as nursing covers, a pack 'n' play, etc.
Just enough to get my MIL off my back about this stuff. Plus we finally went through the two large totes of baby stuff my MIL gave us years ago that all used to be H"s. Turns out one tote was just baby blankets, and the other was a hodge podge of baby stuff, little kid stuff, and stacks and stacks and stacks of old pictures of H, old report cards, etc.

pismoduo sorry you aren't feeling well. But good job on registering for all that stuff!! As far as the breast pump, your insurance should supply a free one, or one for very little cost to you, FYI.
For the ladies who haven't registered yet and/or are struggling with choosing things, I can't stress enough how helpful lucieslist.com was for me the first time around. I still use her for convertible seat and double stroller recs.
We just hung out at home yesterday and cleaned and did laundry for our trip and went grocery shopping for stuff for my mom while we're gone.

Good point. I should go look for the info on how I get my insurance company to do that.
I think we're down to just the major furniture for the room, decorations, and some more outfits, etc.

DH and I took a trip to BRU and buy buy baby a few weeks ago and for the most part figured out the big stuff, stroller, crib, play pen ect. Its everything else that really gets me. I think what needs to happen is I need to go back to the store to register because its to easy for me to get distracted at home.

pismoduo I know all insurance companies will be different, but with mine, my ob submitted a claim when I was about 36 weeks and I got a call to go pick one up from a medical supply company. Super easy. I do know people who have still purchased their own bc it was a little better than the insurance one. For me, I didn't end up using it very much so I'm glad I didn't spend a bunch up front. Free is always awesome and if it doesn't work to your liking you can purchase a better one. That's just my 2 cents though

I was actually planning to call my insurance company today and see what they say. I've read some comments online that Cigna provides a rental, not your own, and I'm hoping that's changed. Guess I'll see what they say later.

I believe I got a form while at the hospital, and called it into a supply company, and had it like a day or 2 after I was home from the hospital. I would maybe check in with your OB if your insurance isn't super helpful.
Friday is V-Day. 24 weeks. I've seen discussions on other BMBs about when a baby is actually viable and the statistics of said viability but I feel some relief and I'm happy for my rainbow to be reaching this milestone.
I hope everyone's Mother's Days went well. I feel so incredibly special being able to be acknowledged this year. My whole family was very sweet to me both Saturday and Sunday. I was even sewing yesterday alone (DH was working) and was getting weepy about how lucky I am to have him and I can only hope our daughter finds someone that treats her as well as her daddy treats her and her mama!
I'm starting to get overwhelmed at all of the expenses associated with buying a new house and selling. We'll be fine because we've saved for this, but actually getting into our savings account makes me feel stressed for some reason. I've put us on a really tight budget just in case it takes too long to sell our house.
Even when you know you have the money it's still a big deal to actually spend it on something!!

My grandma got me a Mother's Day gift and my mom was gushing to every one in every store we went to that we were all 3 mothers. It was pretty cool.

I was looking into v-day a week or so ago and it seems to be the cut-off where most drs will now make life saving efforts on an infant. Obviously we all hope to bake much longer than v-day, but it is a big deal to reach it IMO and I'll be pretty happy about it when it's my turn next week.

Yeah that's what I researched too. At 24 weeks the doctors will attempt to save the baby. Myself, I won't completely relax until I'm at least 30 weeks. Hopefully we all bake the full 40 weeks.

I'm so happy for you that you are so close to V-Day! I totally understand that feeling and can't wait to be there myself!
Welp the $125 chimney cleaning and inspection is going to be so much more. The crown of the chimney needs to be resurfaced and repaired. Thankfully they can do it today and a little Googling shows me that the pictures they showed me do indicate a need for repair and Google says they are offering me a good deal. Bye, bye eating out for the next few weeks...

Funny that you brought up jury duty today jennybeans, MH received his summons notice to serve a few weeks ago and it made me realize that I've now lived in my house for over 3 years and haven't been called to serve since I moved to the state.
Guess what was waiting in my mailbox when I went home for lunch...

Yus! I feel so incredibly thankful and lucky. I REEEEEALLY struggled with Mother's Day last year and I honestly didn't know if I'd ever get to go through this.
