It's not my favourite but you could use Emery if you are dead set on incorporating a nod to both. I also knew an Emaria once but I'm pretty confident it's not really a name.
For me personally, I'd just use Emmanuela. I've never quite understood the thing of using a variant or similar name to honour someone rather than their actual name.

Our last name is huge so we are trying to pare it down. Emaria came to mind, but I don't think it's a name either.

I agree with this, too.
I might be able to understand wanting to avoid a very long first name if you have a long surname, but honestly, middle names don't get used all that much. Lauren Emmanuela flows beautifully.

Use Lauren Emmanuela. There's nothing wrong with a long name, especially when the first name is shorter. My ln is 3 syllables and 10 letters long, and there are many 3-4 syllable names on my list.

I like the sound of Lauren Ema and Lauren Emmanuela. I have been really digging Lauren lately. It used to sound dated to me but not anymore. Great choice!
