Agressive Let Down.. Need advice

Has anyone else dealth with an aggressive let down?  It really hurts when it happens my nipples feel like they are on fire.. and then my little guy starts gulping and gulping... this has lead to him having a lot of gas and spitting up.  Any advice is appreciated.  Also does anyone know if this will ever settle down?  Will my let down eventually be normal?  he is 5 weeks old.  I was wondering as time went on if this would improve.  I just want to make him feel better and not like he is drinking from a fire hose.

He should grow into it. I had one with ds and now one with dd. Recline back when you nurse so the milk isn't shooting down their throat. Also pop baby off when you letdown and let it squirt into a cloth then put them back on. DS eventually got use to it and since I recline nurse dd we don't have a ton of issues.

What the other ladies said and side laying nurisng.

The LC I got help from said to put some pressure on the side of your breast it will slow down the flow some/be more controlled.

This 100%.  I have a friend who had this same issue and she would express a little prior to nursing and then squirt into a cloth so it wasn't as aggressive for her LO.

Nurse with baby's head higher than the breast or in line with it. Do laid back, side lying or football hold.
When you hear gulping pull baby off and let the extra strong flow go into a towel or cup. Alternatively you cdn pump just t let down and let that really fast flow slow a bit before latching baby on
Also may want to focus on feeding mostly on one side per feeding to get baby more hindmilk and lsupply will settle down a bit

I had a really fast let down as well. I tried reclining but she didn't like the position. What worked for me was pumping off the first part and then nursing. I only nursed one side at a feeding.
