Now that I've read the responses... @tiggyt753 is right, the martyr Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of music and musicians. Much prettier if you think of that

Don't really care. Basic naming criteria in this house: something DH and I both like, nothing too trendy, and something people will generally recognize so that our kid doesn't have to spend his/her whole life correcting people's spelling or pronunciation.
My other personal must-have is that it needs to easily translate into my mother tongue (Ukrainian), I'm third-generation but this was a major part of my upbringing so I've always known I want to pass on the language and culture to any children I have.
So yeah, after all that, the actual meaning doesn't really factor in! Besides, like PPs have said, who really looks up name meanings? The only reason I know of any for the names we are considering is that they just pop up when you search on a name website.
Due to the "what does your name mean" thread I found out this one means Blind as well (are you considering Cecilia?) I'm sad about that but it will be for dh's grandmother and I LoVE the name I had these books growing up and the heroine's sidekick or BFF was Celia and I loved that. Finding out dh's grandma was Cecilia drove me to ALMOST change DD1's name which id had my heart set on for YEARS.

I say... It doesn't matter
Were they the Mandie books???
YES THE MANDIE BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't think anyone else would have read them!!
(I quit somewhere in the 20's though, the writing changed too much and the stories became dull...)
So, for those of you who have never looked at the meanings of the name and aren't using a family name, what will you tell your LO when they ask why they have that name?
That it's a name we thought was beautiful.
this.
Once I asked my mom why I had the name Amy. She said "it's a name your father and I could agree on and they wouldn't let us leave the hospital without naming you".
Cool.
I promise you, my life is not destroyed because my name doesn't have super special meaning.

I don't really pay attention to what a name means. I certainly didn't name my kids based on that, though once I'd settled on a name, I did look it up to see what it meant. I don't think I would have changed my mind if it was something a little goofy. I actually find the misshapen head thing kind of cute. I've got a name picked out for this little girl and I haven't even looked it up to see what it means (off to do that now!).

They were my absolute favorite growing up!!! Can't remember if I read them all...I know I did get through their Europe trip with Mandie's grandmother. My mom has been storing them so when our girl is old enough she can read them!

Apparently the regular series has 40 books! (I def quit in the 20's) and after that they go to college even. I guess Lois Gladys Leppord died in 2008. I hope my mom still has my copies!! I may have googled them last night to see how many there were in the end. I have all my Anne of Green Gables books and Little House (on the Prairie) and Grandma's Attic so I hope to have Mandie to share too!!
Name meanings are extremely important to me, but only because I come from a religious culture that says so.
ETA: That said, if you are naming after a person, the literal meaning almost doesn't matter. The meaning becomes that you want your child to emulate that person. DD2's name is Miriam, which means bitter, but she's named for the biblical figure. DD1 is Devorah, which means bee, but same idea.
You never know your daughter could find those meanings hilarious. I always laugh that my name means "virginal/pure." Only virginal thing about me. Our favorite girl's name means "gift from God." I laughed for a long time after reading that since my husband is an atheist.
