Hi all. I took DD to Mommy and Me and she just fell asleep. I bought 2 of my maternity shirts back from the shop I sold them to. I felt stupid buying them back, oh well. Tomorrow we're going to the beach with the Stay at Home Preschool group. I'm nervous to take DD without H there.

My husband is off today so we took the girls to a farm park. They just recently had baby pigs and oh my goodness they are so cute! I wore DD2 for a little bit and she didn't mind so I think it might work out this time for us. If only she would have napped in it.

OK so for those of you with 2+, how do you get out and do things and still get your LO to nap? DD2 apparently will not nap in the stroller or the cat even for that matter. As a result I'm putting her down for a late nap because we just got home and she's been awake 6 hours.

younglove316, my son seriously slept non-stop for the first month and then had to give up naps...more or less. He did sleep well in the car and the stroller, so I always just took him places and let him sleep if he needed to...sadly, at 20 months, he just car naps on the way home from DD's preschool and that's all we get, and it's been that way this whole school year. So careful with minimizing the nap or you may wish you'd have kept it.
We are headed for a farm/dairy place tomorrow with our moms' group. Going to the beach sounds fun, but it's too cold here still. Not sure I could handle two tots at any kind of beach--maybe if they have puddle jumpers. I would take DD by myself to the local reservoir, but I pretty much had to stick by her like glue. I can take them both to the pool--I hold DS and DD is fine with her puddle jumper but the water is only 2 ft deep.

brachysira that's what I'm afraid of! She's only 6 months so I know she needs the sleep but she just won't do it. Today she woke up from her first nap about 1015 and we went to this farm park about 40 minutes away. Other than the 3 minutes she fell asleep as we got there, all we got were heavy eyes.
penguin129, so jelly y'all are going to the beach! younglove316, DS is 5 months and generally naps in the car in the mornings and early afternoon since we are usually out, but he does get one good nap in in the evening. I have to be very adamant with DD about it being quiet time while DS naps and consistently tell her to use her quiet voice. It works pretty well. As for activities, DD is 2.5 exactly and we are really into stamps and fun textures like feathers and felt. brachysira, have fun at the farm tomorrow. Wish we had something like that here.
younglove316 my LO does not nap in the car ever. Or the stroller or the carrier. It's very frustrating.
I've always made the afternoon nap the priority and made sure we were home in time for it everyday more or less on time. If necessary I skip his morning nap and he usually does okay. My 3yo DS still naps in the afternoon so I'm used to being home for that.
