Hello GKU! & A question about electronic BBTs & apps

I already intro'd on the intro board but I though I'd also intro here as well as I am TTC.

Copypasta'd intro: Hi there, I'm Bulma, a former Bumpie. I mostly stuck to the Baby Shower Board and the private group I was a member of but left to focus on personal issues before shit hit the fan. My husband and I have been TTC since 2013, but we took a break for a year in 2014, and upon starting TTC again I got pregnant in the first cycle of trying and miscarried by the end of the month. That was August, and since then I have only gotten two periods. I have maybe five periods a year, so since the miscarriage I have been tracking my BBT manually, but I am thinking about getting one of the electronic BBTs that syncs to an app on the phone/iPad to make things a bit easier for me. Does anyone here use one? This is the one I have been mulling over TempCue Basal Body Temperature Kit.

I've not used these products, I just used a regular BBT and tracked in Fertility Friend.

Are your cycles ovulatory and just longer than "normal" or are you having long cycles without ovulating? Have you had any testing done before or after your loss?

Welcome to the board! I have not ever used anything like that, I just use a regular BBT and the Fertility Friend app.

I had been using pencil and paper graphs that my gyno gave me, however they got lost in our move in December. I have a young puppy who is potty training and I have to take her out several times a night so I'm trying to find a convent way of doing the BBT. I do seem to be ovulating sometimes, just very long and irregular cycles. I was able to predict my O for the month I got PG. Sometimes it will seem as though I'm going to O but then my temps don't change enough and I go another cycle without having a period. Does that make sense? I have had no testing whatsoever with the exception of the blood tests that my gyno has me do yearly since I've started TTC. DH has had a sperm test done though.

I have the iFertracker, the app is horrendous, but it syncs with the health kit. I sleep with my thermometer device taped to my armpit, temping when I woke up in the morning didn't go so well...

ETA - I'm excellent at spending money needlessly, so I had purchased what you are looking at, I was completely turned off after opening the package, it just didn't seem easy. The iFertracker is expensive AF, but it does make my life so much easier

I just use bbt and fertility friend app, too. So no help there.
Have you considered seeing an RE? If it's something you can do they might be able to get you additional testing that may help too. Good luck!

Some day in the distant future I will have a Wink, which is Kindaras BBT that syncs to their app via Bluetooth. I wouldn't recommend ordering one now because it won't ship for a million years (for reference, I bought mine in 2014) even though they make it seem like they're just out there and available now on the website. I don't have a good reason for waiting it out.

If you have a smart phone I recommend starting out doing a chart or two with a regular BBT thermometer (about $10) and Fertility Friend (free app available for Apple and Droid).  It will be easier than paper charting and less expensive than the products you are looking at.

If Fertility Friend doesn't work for you then you can consider moving on to a more expensive product.

I'm cheap and have been using the same $9.99 bbt with the fertility friend app for 14 months now.

Never fails me. Though I do sometimes want to break it out of frustration.

I'll check out Fertility Friend. I have a good BBT, I use it vaginally though, does Fertility Friend use that temp?

Yes, my husband and I plan to see a specialist in August as that will be 2 years with only one PG - early loss.

Yea you can select vaginal temping on FF.
