1) What's the meaning of your name? What's the meaning of SO's name?
2 .) Did you ever wish your parents named you something else?
My name is Stephanie which means "crown" and DH is Ryan which means "little king"! Fits together so well!
I used to ask my mom to change my name to Jennifer b/c that was my cousin's name. She's two years older than me and I adored her. I had to do everything she did, like what she liked, etc.

My name is Sarah which means princess, but I was actually named that because of my sister's favorite song at the time:
I hated my name growing up, there was always at least two other Sara/Sarah's in my class and I wanted a "cooler" name. Now I'm a bit ambivalent about it.
1) What's the meaning of your name? What's the meaning of DH's name?
My name is Eva, a version of Eve. My husbands name is biblically-derived too. His name is Nathan, which means something like "gift from God."
2 .) Did you ever wish your parents named you something else?
I think my parents knocked it out of the park with my name! It's the version of Eve that is popular in Germany, which is where both sides of my family are from. It's an unusual name (although becoming less and less so), but not weird or speshul.
When I was little though I reaaaallllly wanted my name to be Paige so much that I made everyone call me Paige for probably about a year during preschool! There was a really cool girl in my preschool class named Paige who I wanted to be like because she had the best ballet tutu.
1) I've heard my name means youthful or soft hair. Different sources say different things. DH's name means crown.
2) No. I like that no one else in school had my name, but I didn't like that I always had to spell it out. Now there are a couple of celebrities with my name, so at some people are familiar with it even though I still need to spell it out.
Jennifer means white wave apparently, I've never looked it up before. DH's name means Spear.
I was never that bothered by my name. There was always at least 2 Jennifer's in each class so when I went to Secondary school I started getting people to call me Jenny. Now people automatically shorten it to Jen.

1) Shaina is of Yiddish/Hebrew origin for "Beautiful"
Scott literally means "from Scotland"
2) When I was little yes, I wished I had a more common name. I frequently correct people on how to pronounce it, or get called shania, shaniqua or shanaynay by assholes who think it's funny. But I have grown to love my name, mostly for it's meaning because that's why my dad choose it for me.
1) My name, Sarah, means princess DH's name, Thomas, means Twin.
2 .) Did you ever wish your parents named you something else?
Yes. But only for two reasons. One: I thought Sarah was a little kids name, it didn't sound "grown up" to me. I love it now though. Two: When I was in elementary school I had a speech impediment and could not say my 'R's' well. I still have slip ups. Even today, I cant say Roy, Rural, or words like that!

My name (Corie) is Irish, meaning "from the hollow"; DH's name (Brian) in Celtic means "He ascends" or "strong"
When I was younger I thought my name was a boy name so I hated it. Mostly just because of Boy Meets World, kids teased me calling me Cory Matthews. But I actually like my name now. I've never met anyone who spells it like me, and I think it fits me.
1) my name is Jessica and it means rich. DH name is Gregory and it means Watchful; this describes him perfectly! He is a quiet, soft spoken and very observant man.
2) My mom named me after the daughter of a penpal she had. He was in jail and had only one daughter and his fear was that he'll never see her again. Because of that I never would wish she named me any different.
My name doesn't mean anything cause it is made up and not a real name. I do occasionally wish I had a different name because of that, but I get a lot of compliments about how pretty it is.
DH name is Andrew. Which is greek for "strong/manly/courageous".
1) My given name is Catherine Michelle. Put it together and it means pure like God. Ha! Hahahahaha!! AHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! I think my parents were setting me up for my teenage years because that was most definitely NOT the case. My boyfriend's name means wise and that fits him pretty well.
2) I like my name okay. I mean, it's a nice name but it isn't something I would ever name my child. I was named after my father's mother who has a mental illness and beat her children. She passed away a few months before I was born so my father wanted me to have her name. Keep in mind that my parents were drug addicts so there is really no telling what was going on in their heads. Thank God my other set of grandparent's raised me and insisted on me being called Catie instead. At least they have the smarts.

My name means "joy of the land", DH name means "who is like God ".
I have a very uncommon name here in the US. It's very old and is more common in Germany, Poland and Scandinavia. Growing up I hated it because I always had to correct people but grew to love it as I grew up.

I'm another Alicia. Noble, honest. H means Yahweh is salvation. @allybells how did your parents intend your name to be pronounced? My mom expected everyone to pronounce mine like (A-liss-E-uh but she herself and my siblings pronounced it the other way so it's always been a confusing mess. That's why I dislike my name. Always being asked which I prefer. I answer to both ways.
Emily = Industrious (hard working) fits 100% MN Sarah (after great grandmas on both sides) = Princess DH is Stephen =Martyr (he so can be that way, too!) DD1 is Loriece "common" spelling Laurice (in the Laura/Laurel/Laurie family) meaning Crowned with Laurel. Her MN Violet is as close to Grandma Viola as I could bring myself to use to honor her (all family names) DD2 will be Cecilia (apparently meaning Blind ) after dh's grandmother (I just love the name anyway) and also there's a saint Cecilia who was a martyr (fits with DH) MN will likely be Antionette (feminine form of Anthony after DH, his dad and grandpa all have same MN) meaning beyond praise or high praise worthy I guess. Really we just like family names or like to honor family members and luckily have good family names to choose from
A boy would have been Leif (heir/descendent) Anthony (highly praiseworthy)
My name means "father's joy", which is sweet, and DH's means "worthy of praise". But I'm pretty sure they were just picked because my parents were looking for a name that started with the same letter as my mom's grandfather's name and DH's mom wanted a saint's name.
I've always liked my name- minus the fact that I have a nickname that my parents called me by since birth and feels like my real name, so I just have this name on all my official documents that I don't associate with myself. But I liked that I was always the only one in my class but my name isn't weird.

I always get called (a-liss-e-uh). I've learned to answer to everything, which is kind of annoying. I know a girl from college who is Alicia, spelled the same and pronounced the same as me. She goes by Ali, too. I wish someone would have thought of that when I was younger. Could have resulted in less hassle.

There are lots of Sarahs here! I am also a Sarah... meaning princess. I've always liked my name, and never wanted to be anything different. When my mom was pregnant with me, she was going to name me Megan, but then in the last month of her pregnancy, she became obsessed with the song "Sarah" by (I think) Jefferson Starship.
Funny enough, Megan was always a favorite girl name of mine and was on our short list if this baby was a girl.
1) I have a weird name. Mitchelle - pronounced Mitchell, my parents just added the e to make it more "feminine". I still say they added it to make everyone even more confused. The name Mitchell means "Gift from God" (ha!) but my parents didn't think about meaning, the song patio lanterns by Kim Mitchell came out the year I was born and they really liked that song.
DH is Gary, it's a family name, and apparently means "spear"
2) Growing up I hated my name. There are SO MANY things that rhyme with "Mitch" and kids are mean. I was always mad at my mom for it. Now I don't mind it, besides having to constantly correct people on spelling and pronounciation of course. I just go by Mitch and I think it suits me.

My name is Iris and means rainbow in greek. It was the name of the Greek goddess of the rainbow.
DH is David , which means beloved.
Growing up I was never really liked my name because there never was anything personalized. I always wanted to be named Zoe. And I also wanted to be a twin so I had someone to play with. Even though I have three older brothers, but I grew up in a different home I felt like an only child.
As a kid, I desperately wanted to be Tiffany (or something equally 80's pop-star sounding). Not all Amys would agree, but I enjoy being called Aim or Ames. My maiden name had a lot of good nicknames attached to it, too, and I get a kick out of hearing those from my way-back friends.
