theotherjacobsons we are keeping DD in her room in her crib. I'm trying to make the transition as minimal as possible for her because she's a very clingy toddler. I think your decision depends a lot on the personality of your DD.
I would put the little hygiene things on there, because people never to think to buy them unless they're reminded. We got the complete set from our shower, and I would have completely forgot otherwise if it weren't on the registry. My registry was more of to buy list for me, and if people wanted to buy off of it, cool. If not, then at least I had a running list going.
I agree with this. When I attend a shower I often do the tub, toiletries and washcloths or something like that. It's a good way for people to know which brand/type you prefer. For example, I've never used Johnson & Johnson on DS and prefer something more natural.
I'm also not sure if I want to use store bought stuff either. My mom makes and gives us shampoo and soap all the time and while im not all about the back to nature stuff all the time Im seriously leaning towards trying my mom's stuff on baby first. It's nice knowing exactly whats going in it and where it came from.
theotherjacobsons, my DD is still very happily in her crib - if she doesn't show signs of wanting to get out before #2 arrives, the baby will sleep in the PNP for the first few months. I really like the idea of having both of them contained for as long as possible! Plus, DD is a fabulous sleeper, and I really don't want to mess with that during the last few months of pregnancy or the super newborn stage if I don't have to.
DD will be staying in her room, and we're turning the guest room into a nursery. We are going to buy DD a new set of furniture (twin bed, dresser, nightstand) - we will move DD's current dresser/changer and small bookcase into the nursery so that the only think left to do is move the crib and assemble the twin bed when DD is ready.
As for showers, my mom keeps bringing up a shower, and I continue to tell her that I don't want an official shower. We only need a few things, and if #2 turns out to be a boy, I know the grandparents will inundate us with new clothes (plus I have friends who have offered hand-me-downs). I think I've convinced her that we are just going to do a birthday party for DD, and if people bring a baby gift, so be it.

Did anyone put bottle wamers or sterlizers on their registry? I am wondering if I should bother? We have a dishwasher and I did put dishwasher baskets for bottles on the list. Im a little hesitant about bottle warmers only because I dnt want to buy one and find out baby doesn't like that kind of bottle.

Nope. I don't feel like those special gadgets are really necessary and my STM-to-be BFF told me she never missed NOT having them when her DD was younger, and has no plans to buy them for her DS-to-come.

I didn't register for one, but someone still got me a Dr Browns warmer and bottle scrubber. It wasn't necessary for us because he got so few bm bottles that it was faster to just run them under warm water.
With formula, we used our water dispenser (we have water delivered) and mixed 1/3 hot to 2/3 cold then added formula and it was perfect. When we were out and about, we just took a room temperature bottle of water along with us.
I think we used the warmer a handful of times when I decided to mix formula in the formula pitchers. But it turned out DS could give two shits about whether it was hot or cold...

We just put hot water in a mug and put the bottle in that for a little bit. We had a reallllly small place when DS was born, so space was a factor in the decision. We realized that it just wasn't necessary for us though. For formula we used room temp bottled water. As far as sterilizers, I boiled everything when I first got them. I got the medela microwave bags that I used for pump parts every once in awhile. I hand washed our bottles.
ETA: I'm considering getting the Dr. Browns formula pitcher since I'll probably have to supplement again. It just seems so convenient!
*snip* The only thing I will even really need is a double-stroller and I'm waiting on that. I have the feeling it'll be easier at most places to just wear my son and put the tiny baby in a single stroller.
This is why I'm waiting on the double too. Unless one of the grandparents offed to buy it right away, I'll probably wait and wear one of them in the beginning.

theotherjacobsons I agree with hurricanerek, it depends on her personality. I decided to keep DS in a crib bc he's crazy pants and I wanna keep him contained for as long as possible. I also don't want to deal with the transition at the end of pregnancy or with a newborn. They'll be sharing a room but new DS will be in my room for the first 6 ish months. I think if you switch her to a toddler bed, it might be a lot of change to do that and move her room too.
theotherjacobsons we just moved when DD turned 16 months and we put her straight in to a twin mattress on the floor. She has done amazingly well...and this is a kid who didn't sleep through the night until 15 months. I will say that she was never a crib sleeper. We actually never even bought one. She went from the rock n play to pack n play/bed sharing so I don't know if that helped with the transition since she was already used to sleeping on our bed.

This was incredibly popular amongst the early formula feeders on my last board.
We totally bought one of these. It was on sale on Amazon plus the 15% registry discount, we got it for $100. I figured that if I end up formula feeding it'll be a necessity with twins to get two bottles made as quickly and easily as possible.

Yes I think it's a requirement for twins!! No way would I even attempt bfing twins!

Ditto. Whenever I buy stuff for a baby shower I get one cutesy thing like a hat or outfit and then some practical stuff like plain onesies or washcloths.
