As I have probably mentioned a million times because I'm excited, I just moved into a new house. Now I need to furnish the place, but I'm trying to be budget-conscious while still getting quality things that will last.
Where are your favorite places to score good deals on home stuff? I'm all over Wayfair, Joss & Main, and Overstock... where else should I be searching?
We've gotten some things from Ikea recently that I have really enjoyed, once you get out of the dorm-style section their stuff isn't too bad. We got one of those secretary-style desks, a storage thingy that has doors on top and drawers on the bottom and then a dresser that we're using as a buffet.
Homegoods can be good, but you have to hit them at the right time.

I love me some Wayfair!!!
And I don't recall exactly where you live, but I've found some nice furniture at Bobs Discount Furniture. It's way cheaper than the competition and no assembly required.
How handy are you? I am super into Ikea hacking - buying IKEA pieces and then doctoring them up to make them nicer/more durable/more creative/whatever. There are tons of blogs and pinterest things on IKEA hacks!
Do you have any good second hand furniture places near you? We furnished most of our house from one near us. This place goes to auctions, estate sales, etc...and then refurbishes the stuff before they put it on their display floor. Last weekend they have a relatively new Ethan Allen set for $1500- king bed, two dressers and two nightstands included. If we didn't already have a bedroom set I love it would have been our.
I'm relatively handy, as is DH, but I confess that with all of the painting we're already going to have to do at the house I've been hoping to get as many finished, ready to use pieces as I can. I will have to look out for a good second-hand store, Becca! So far I've not seen one, but that doesn't mean it's not out there.
Also, randomly, DH may have already declared that he wants to make our own version of a gorgeous table I found online (apologies if this is huge, I suck at mobile pictures!):
...but we'll see how that goes and if we have energy for any other projects afterward.
achromia is that stainless steel? Or polished concrete? My dad installed a stainless steel backsplash in our old house. It was very cool. And your table looks very cool too.

It's polished concrete around a slice of raw wood. I think we're going to attempt a couple of small side tables in concrete first to get the hang of the technique before jumping into a huge project like a dining table.
