Our baby girl, E arrived yesterday. My water broke at midnight. We went into the hospital an hour later. I wasn't having regular contractions so I went walking a few times. Regular contractions finally started around 3:30. I got an epidural at 5 and was at 5 cm by then. By 5:45 I was 10 cm and started pushing. I pushed for over an hour. The doctor told me the baby's head was big so I was worried but they kept telling me I was still progressing so I kept going and finally got her out. The epidural did not do much for back pain/rectal pain, which was where the baby's head was for so long. When baby came out the doctor said she was face up, which is why her head looked big. Also called posterior occipital. I guess you have to push more generally and are more likely to have c-section or episiotomy etc. I just needed one stitch after so am feeling grateful overall. And her head wasn't big at all, and was very cone shaped because of position, but swelling is going down.
Baby E is doing well so far. She is latching well but is a little jaundice.
C still hasn't met her since she has strep. Poor thing has been really sick since Thursday night. She's on the mend now. I just feel bad I can't be there for her now. Pediatrician said newborns almost never get strept and he would only be concerned if I had it. I think I'm in the clear now ( knock on wood). We should be discharged tomorrow morning so she should meet her soon!

Congratulations on a smooth delivery, especially with the sunny side up baby! Way to go mama!
DS was born posterior and I was told that due to some of the bruising that can come with that position that sometimes they stay jaundice for a little bit longer.
****loss and living child discussed***** We're queer. I'm 34, have severe stage 4 endo, and both fallopian tubes are gone. My love ("Manada" 33) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tav.in and Ca.sey at 21 weeks gestation.
