Can you have a UTI with no symptoms?

Anyone know?   My urine test from my first OB appointment came back positive for UTI bacteria but I feel 100% fine.  I am paranoid about taking drugs while pregnant and don't want to take antibiotics unless I absolutely have to.  Anyone ever had a UTI with no symptoms?

That is very odd for sure. Every time I've had a UTI its been very obvious.

Me too.  I wonder if the sample was contaminated somehow.

I think I might ask for a retest. I've had a UTI twice and both were super painful.

Agreed. When I have a UTI, I KNOW it. And it's awful.

Yeah so, I took a drugstore UTI pee test and guess what? Positive. So I guess I have a UTI. Yay antibiotics. I talked to my OB and she said UTI symptoms can be different and sometimes asymptomatic in pregnancy. Grrr.

Boo for a UTI while pregnant. Take the antibiotics but don't forget to also take some probiotics or eat yogurt as well. Don't want to get a antibiotic related yeast infection on top of everything else.

I had one before with no symptoms, so perhaps they caught it at the beginning. My sister also did and had no clue. Let's just leave it at she got very, very sick and was hospitalized in ICU. I'm glad you're getting the antibiotics. I've had to take antibiotics a few times during pregnancy and would much rather take a class A or B drug than risk it getting worse.

Scary! I hope everything turned out okay for your sister!

The very first time I had a UTI (as a stupid teenager) I had no idea what it was and didn't go to the doctor until it had become a kidney infection complete with debilitating back pain and 104* fever. I didn't wind up hospitalized, but I agree with PP that it's good you caught the UTI early emilie and can get it treated.

This.  Taking the drugs are always much better than not.  Untreated UTI's can cause miscarriage.

I'm taking the drugs, but wow, I forgot antibiotics are the devil. I would like my digestive system back please.
