DD1 has a lot of bug bites on her arms and hand and a big one on her back. She plays outside most days with the nanny but we live in the city so she's at a park that is not grass. She was at the park yesterday and this morning she was complaining her hand itched. I noticed a bite and a few more on her lower arm and put some cortisone cream on it and she seemed fine. They went to a different park today but this OEN had sand. She wore a long sleeve rash guard today though because it was aand and sprinklers. Tonight I noticed many bites up her arms and a huge one on her back. I'm guessing they were from the day before and job t took a bit to show up. They look terrible and are itching her but no complaint of pain. I gave her benedryl orally to calm the itch so she sleeps and put some lavender essential oil mixture on it because I figured it couldn't hurt and is supposed to help itching. She seems a bit better.
Do I call the doc to get her in tomorrow or am I overreacting? I normally don't love to call the doc but this is the second time she had big bites like this but last time not nearly as many. It took a long time for them to go away last time but stopped bothering her after a few days. I'm thinking maybe she's allergic to Mosquitos and I doubt our ped will be helpful but I sort of feel like I should do something.

Yuck! Word on the street is that the bugs have been particularly voracious in the northeast this year. It sounds like they got her good! You did all the right things. Benadryl is good, and you can also use a little hydrocortisone cream to help with the itching. Keep her covered up and get some bug repellant. Picaridin is a good alternative to DEET if you're afraid of it.
frecklesnbrains - thanks for your advice. We had been using hydrocortisone as well.
GOmamab15, manybellsdown - Thanks for your comments. It made me feel less crazy about calling
I ended up calling the doctor anyway because she was no better this morning and had a terrible night of sleep and itching and crying. They wanted us to come in due to the size and I was getting concerned it was a rash and spreading. The doctor said they are spider bites and she got it good. They sort of alluded it was probably in her bed and ate her up one night but I had just changed her sheets and vacuumed under her bed and looked at the mattress and saw nothing so I don't know. I could have disturbed something in our extremely cluttered apartment when i was deep cleaning and rearranging closest but I sort of think it happened at the park. There was a girl in the office right before us with exactly the same thing and the ped office is a few blocks from the park so it wouldn't surprise me if they both got it at the park. They gave me a strong cortisone cream for it and said to make sure nothing gets infected from her scratching. Hopefully it starts to help soon.
Random fact - she said that there have been studies that Benadryl cream can actually make kids allergic to Benadryl so not to use it. I had no idea. She said to give it orally especially at night if she's really irritated and to use the cortisone for cream. I thought I'd pass that along manybellsdown, manybellsdown,
