I'm seriously impressed by people who go med free. I can't imagine having the energy for the pushing if I'd gone without. Kudos to those who have the focus to get through it! I'm definitely not high on the spectrum for pain tolerance
I have a question for those of you who have cloth diapered - do you generally run things through 2 cycles in the wash, pre-soak the diapers, use a certain temperature in the wash, or anything else special? Maybe it's just my imagination, but I feel like DS's non-disposable swim diapers and his swim shorts still smell like pee after washing them. I didn't pre-soak and ran them through a regular cycle using Tide with cool water. I'm probably doing many things wrong, so teach me your ways!
It kind of depends on your water, but you need at least a Prewash and then Wash Hot. Tide should work fine.
In other news, any worries I had about not being sure whether my milk is in or not have disappeared. I now have Pamela Anderson boobs.
I had never really considered getting a boob job before, but the thought first crossed my mind when my milk came in with DS. I think I could go for a toned down version of that look permanently. DH agrees.
I'm hoping to go with out epi. I'm flexible & keeping an open mind. I have no idea how it'll actually turn out but I hope use nitrous & meditation techniques to get through contractions and adrenaline for the pushing part. We'll see.
Team give me that epi ASAP. I wish I could call ahead and have it on deck ready to go. I waited too long to go to the hospital last time and almost didn't get an epi. Getting it in at 8cm was not fun.
question, but has anyone had a difference in the length between the hospital and the dr? They stated 19.5in at birth but 18.5 at her first appt. The nurse said it was always different but it seems weird.
This happened to me. At the hospital they said DD was 18.9" and at the Doctor's office they said she was 19.5".

Spinal anesthesia at 10cm. No regrets whatsoever! And everything was so fast I never needed a catheter. That wouldn't have swayed me though. A small tube in my urethra is nothing compared to a baby's head in my vagina. I'm totally supportive of those that want to go without, but I never gave the idea of an med-free birth more than about 10 seconds of consideration.

I got mine I at 8 this time and it didn't take effect until after she was born. I had them call when I was 4 cm. My labor was just too fast.
As someone who wanted an epi and pretty well had to do natural, I am in awe of the people who choose to do it that way.

Even more reason for me to demand it asap. This labor will be quicker I'm sure.

Yes, I run a cold rinse cycle followed by a hot cycle with the soap.
So irritated with DH. He got home from a 2 day business trip this afternoon. Says he's very tired, but takes the girls to the gym to swim for a little while to give me a break. Baby is sleeping so I fix dinner for them and do some light cleaning. Then baby wakes up a little fussy so I feed and deal with her. After dinner I give the girls a shower while DH holds a sleeping baby who wakes up to eat. So I'm feeding her as the girls get out of the shower. Instead of helping them get in their jammies and brush their hair, he goes down and sits on the patio while I breastfeed, help them get dressed and brush their hair, then put them to bed. Ridiculous! You'd think on the third baby he's get it! Sometimes he is just clueless or just so selfish!

shoogars sorry DH is being so clueless. This is what I consider a typical male behavior. I don't understand why they have to be told exactly what to do every.single.time! You'd think by now they'd know what needs to be done and just do it.
What is everyone doing for Father's Day? I need some ideas.
This is super lame but we are getting dHs truck detailed. You know the really expensive get it back to new car cleaning? That one. It's super dirty from the track and four years of DS snacking in his car seat in the back and he's stoked to get it super clean again.

Oh hi. Yes you should pre rinse any CDs otherwise you are just washing in pee water. Are you only using reusable swim dipes or other CDs too? Tide is fine but a hot wash is best.

With DS I went in with an open mind on the epi. I was going to not do unless I really really needed it in the moment. I generally avoid meds but had never given birth before and didn't know exactly what to expect. I ended up being induced with zero sleep the night before and had to be at the hospital at 4:45am to be induced. I was 4 in and fully effaced at check in and they started the pitocin and 5 hours later I asked for the epi. Best decision ever. I was able to rest for two hours and get some energy to push. I knew without it I would be too exhausted at the end. I had no complications from it and am planning on getting one again this time so I can have a more peaceful and relaxing experience if time allows. I was able to fully enjoy my first evening with DS even after having been in labor the prior 12 hours.

I'm just using reusable swim diapers. It sounds like I needed to both pre rinse and use hot water during the main wash. I'll do that. Thanks!

Not lame at all. I would totally do this but we are doing both our cars this weekend because 2 dogs and 1 kid do a number on the interior. I want nice clean cars for baby surprise to help destroy.
