So any of your other Moms with giant kiddos started to think about what car seat you are going to use next? DS is just 3.5lbs away from meeting the 22lb weight limit of our Chicco key fit infant seat. I have a Diono radian for DD but she was so tiny she could use the infant seat until 1 when we flipped her around (I know that isn't the recommendation anymore). Those things take up so much room rear facing. So I wanted to see what some of you were thinking about getting!!

We will be moving C to N's britax boulevard and moving N to a 5 point harness front facing seat, probably around her third birthday (she is still rf). I love the boulevard, but it is outgrown relatively early height-wise compared to some others for rear facing, so I wouldn't recommend it for a bigger kid (it's fine for my 10% toddler).
I'm looking into the Graco 4ever. It's a BRU exclusive and is great for extended rear facing. There's also the milestone which is similar but doesn't do the no back booster mode. You can also look at the Graco clones (mysize/size4me/fit4me/headwise), any of the new britax click tight seats, or the Chicco nextfit.
We've been using the Maxi Cosi Pria 70. I don't love it but I don't know if I would love any car seat. I like it more now that I really understand how it works. And I do like the wicking upholstery.

We are looking into the various Britax convertibles and the Chicco Nextfit. He is within the weight limits of our Britax bucket seat until either 30 or 32 pounds, I can't remember which, but he is getting too heavy to carry in the bucket anymore. So I figure we might as well just switch to the convertible soon.
I switched LO to the nextfit last week, fits well in the backseat of the Prius but passenger chair can only go back about halfway. DH is still using the Mesa infant seat, it was getting too heavy for me to carry around. He wants the maxi cosi pria 70 when he outgrows the Mesa.
we have a graco smart seat from DS1 and Alex will use that. We have a hot minute before he'll be over the 35lb limit on the snug ride, though. The smart seat is now called something else, but it's the same thing. It's bulky, but it's sturdy. And the safety ratings for highway travel are amazing.

They are so heavy in those that's why I went for the convertible already, but now I can't use the infant seat attachment for the stroller. So I started using the chair that came with our stroller but tilted back all the way so he is completely laying flat, even though you should wait until they are sitting up to use. Or I use the carrier, when are out, I just couldn't carry LO in the infant seat anymore.
M isn't very heavy, but he's really long. I just went and tried out the Peg Perego convertible seat and I love it! I'm putting off buying it in hopes of a sale price, but Peg seems like it never goes on sale.

saragw what do you man by really understanding how it works? I've been debating whether the higher price tag is worth it...and all I've got is that I like the colors and how it looks. I'd love to know what's particularly special otherwise. Thanks.
My string bean baby is no where near her weight limit yet, but we were gifted the Britax Pavillion G4, which I guess is getting discontinued? Anyway, its giagantic, which might not help your space issue.
I hear a lot of good things about the Chicco Nextfit too!
We have used a britax roundabout and blvd. we needed to replace the roundabout because it was expiring (we got it from a friend) and we got the chicco next fit and we totally love it. We honestly hate the britax blvd. we found the straps very difficult to get loose enough to get our older son in and out. We hate it so much that we bought a second chicco next fit and will use the blvd with the baby when he is ready. Since he's smaller it will be easier to use with him. The blvd felt really tight for a RF older child. But a poster above likes it so personal preference can def differ .

Well at first I didn't really understand how to loosen and tighten the straps. I knew where the button to give it some slack was but I didn't know to pull the thing in the back, too. Overall I like the seat. The material is nice. I like the cup holder. The buckle is a little difficult to undo but I guess it's designed to be hard for tiny hands to unbuckle.
We decided on a Recaro converter seat, but we aren't anywhere near the weight limit on our infant seat yet. However, that infant seat is getting heavier and heavier by the week.
We got the Recaro Performance Ride, but L is too small for it still (I think...). The infant car seat is starting to get super heavy to lug around, though, and makes me so nervous with all this ice.
