I woke up at 2am thinking I just really had to pee but realized quickly I was finally having real contractions. I went pee and I was bleeding (lightly, not concerning). Then I decided to time the next contraction and the next and they were 3-4 minutes apart. I got ready, pooped twice in 15 minutes and ate a banana (wish I would've ate more because I was starving while giving birth). The contractions were getting stronger and consistently 3-4 min apart so I decided to wake up dh at 2:30 and we headed to the hospital. I got the the hospital and went to triage. I was measuring at a 6 and 100% so they admitted me immediately, called my doctor and ordered the epidural. I didn't have to wait too long for the anesthesiologist which was great but he had a hell of a time getting my epidural in. He had to try three times because my body was spitting back blood the first two times. He made a comment "gosh this has never happened 2 times!" I was not happy I was his first patient to have to be pricked in the back 3 times. But all said and done I was so thankful it finally worked and the relief was immediate. I hung out for a few hours then they checked me at 8am and I was ready to push. I was really nervous because I pushed 3 1/2 hours with ds so I knew this was just the start of the hard work. Well with just 4 pushes he was out! They had found a tiny bit of meconium so nicu was ready and waiting for him when he came flying out. Fortunately he came out screaming so my doctor knew everything was okay but he went to the nicu doctors for 2 min to get checked out then onto my chest. We did an hour of skin to skin the he breastfed like a champ. I had no tearing and since I barely pushed there was minimal bruising or swelling. I can't believe what a difference this labor was to my first. I'm in such a better mental space and physically feel great. My only issues were not being able to walk on my left leg all day yesterday from the epidural, my back pain from the multiple stab wounds from the epidural and almost fainting trying to go to the bathroom after they drew my blood. He was born at 8:25 am on his due date weighing 8 pounds, 10 ounces measuring 21 inches. He's perfect and I'm so In love with my second little boy.
