Also nighttime wake ups. Do you guys wait until it's s full on cry or do you get up when you hear them stir?
We don't swaddle for naps. B is a terrible napper and I never know each day if/when he will nap. I'm hoping at the 3 month mark to start trying to put him down for set naps and maybe should swaddle him.
I wake up whenever his cry reaches the level that wakes me haha. It's usually a medium level cry at that point.

dandb925 Have you tried a rock and play? Some people in my last BMB had success with it when baby would only sleep on them. I know sleep associations can be bad for some babies but my son was nursed and rocked to sleep until we didn't need to anymore and he is an awesome sleeper. I guess you can call what I did sleep training(I think it's called fading) and I didn't do it until 18mo. The one absolute key for me from sleep websites/books is the optimal awake time. That has helped me with DS and now DD(who is a totally different baby!)
J will be 7 weeks on Tuesday. DH and I are thinking about trying some elements of sleep training next weekend (Fourth of July weekend). Right now at night, he sleeps on me on the couch. He'll sleep through the night, with some dream feedings thrown in, unless I put him down to change him. I have about 6 more weeks of leave but I might go back earlier, so while our current sleep situation isn't ideal, at least I'm not working.
I've been reading Weissbluth's book and have some ideas. I'm just getting worried that we're setting up bad habits for him and they're going to be tough to break, but I don't know if he's too young.
That is my go to book for anything sleep related.
At DS2s one month appointment I talked to the NP about sleep habits (DS2 loves the bassinet but keeps choking during the night so we have been putting him in the rock n play). She told me that at this stage, do what you have to do (reasonably speaking) to get through the night. Moms need sleep to take care of the baby and bad habits don't begin to form until 3 months. I hope she's right!

Hey there! I too use this book as my go-to! I talked to my pedi about it this past week and she said up to 8 weeks, enjoy ALL the snuggles. We always attempt to put DS down once he is asleep and we try not to wait too long but if he stirs, we hold him a bit longer. At 8 weeks, we will start drowsy to sleep in crib with assistance. As in, we are going to put him down in crib when he is VERY drowsy and stay with him and shush him to sleep. No CIO at that point. At 12-13 weeks we will CIO if needed.
With DS1, we didn't do anything until week 12-13 and even still, for night time, it only took not even a full week of tears and he was good to go. Naps were harder. This time, we at least want to start assisting him but not rocking him down earlier.
Also, always do what feels right for you and your family. My sister absolutely can't stand the fact that I "sleep trained". She rocked her kids to sleep day and night until they were at least 18mo old each. For her, it worked and if I could, maybe I would have. But her lifestyle and mine are different! Trust your gut to make the right decision for your babe and your family.
Right now I can usually put DS down at night drowsy but awake and he will fall asleep in the pack n play. Naps he falls asleep on me and I either nap/snuggle or transfer him to the rock n play or play mat. However I'm thinking soon that I should bring him up to the nursery and out him in the pack n play for naps. Since ultimately that is where he will be napping...
We don't swaddle for naps but we don't swaddle at all ... He completely hates it and sleeps fine without. Normally when he's been awake for a while and starts fussing it's because he's tired ... If I lay him in his bed he will go to sleep... The only time he doesn't do this is for his first stretch of sleep at night. He makes me work for that one :/
Ds isn't a loud cryer so I pretty much get up with constant stirring ... I give it a few min and if he doesn't stop then we get up
E has gotten pretty good about sleeping in the bassinet at night. So far we mostly put her in there once she's already asleep. A few times drowsy to sleep but she always wakes up within a few minutes. Twice that was while I was in the shower and she cried herself back to sleep. I know we need to transition her to her room at some point, probably before I go back to work, but that scares me!
Also, she mostly naps on me or in the ktan. Sometimes on the couch with me sitting right there. I have no clue how to get her to sleep in her bed for naps.

Hi, I bought a RnP after hearing about it on here. It hasn't worked yet, but I also haven't pushed it. I'm going to try it again this week.
Thanks ladies - I feel better about our plan. His two month appointment is the 8th and I'm definitely going to talk to the doctor about sleep habits then.

My book suggests starting off with the morning nap in the nursery so we are starting that this week. Says to fill up the daytime sleep tank any other way the rest of the day. Once the morning nap is pretty solid move on to getting the second nap in the nursery...etc

I know it was mentioned back aways but what book are you all reading about infant sleep habits? I have a sleep training book that I used with DS1 but it doesn't really address sleep until 4 months when training starts. I would like more info for the time between now and then.

babycaps would you suggest using the adjusted age to start sleep training with the triplets? I feel like I need to start getting them into a better schedule, but I don't want to push them too early. However it seems like Damian has night and day figured out, but the girls might have them switched which makes things pretty exhausting.

Adjusted age +- 2 weeks! Make sure you are cycling light! Don't turn lights on at night, avoid diaper changes when possible, and have them nap in lighted room during the day for week or so to get day/night switched around.

I can never get DS back down after his last feed in the early morning so I've been pulling him into our bed and nursing laying down. It's lovely. We cuddle and take a little nap together and it's such a nice way to start the day.

This is me too! Although some nights I pull him in bed at 2am lol...

When y'all pull LO in bed, what do you do safety wise? I want to but I'm scared!
I haven't done it much but I make sure no pillows or blankets near him. I sleep with the blanket pulled up to my waist. The side he lays on is clear of anything and the few times I have done it, he sleeps in the crook of my arm. It helps that right now I am sleeping in the guest bed with the cosleeper so no DH to worry about.

I put him so that his head is level with my chest. I lay on my side and kind of curl my body around him (bent knees, head down, arms around him.) The pillow (which is a firm memory foam so not fluffy at all) is quite a bit above his head. I usually only use a light, breathable sheet and if it's cool I'll pull the blanket up to about my waist. This works well for us. Especially on fussy nights because in this position I can pull my boob out and he can nurse without either one of us being fully awake. Once he can roll I'll be a lot more nervous about having him in there with me, but for now it is really nice.

+1 this is pretty much us.
I also have a separate small blanket to cover up my upper body if I'm cold.
Question about napping in the crib. DS is 8w and seems to have the nighttime thing figured out - we swaddle him at night, and he sleeps pretty well in his bassinet, wakes to feed, and goes back down pretty easily most of the time. I don't think he will sleep in his crib unswaddled, but I will certainly try. (So far the only places he reliably sleeps unswaddled for naps are the RNP and carrier). If he doesn't, one option is to swaddle him for the nap, but my concern is that he will get confused and think it's nighttime. Maybe that's stupid.
Also, we are traveling for most of July, first domestically but then to Europe with a 7h time difference so I'm pretty sure we are screwed either way. lolz. #ohshit #seemedlikeagoodideaatthetime
