Yes, we tried to give it to her right when we got home but she didn't want it, she will finally take it. I have so many friends who wish their older baby would take a paci. I like having the option to comfort them if they're upset but not hungry. DS never had any nipple confusion. I like the mam brand because you can put it in either direction without being upside down. Not a fan of the soothies although DD likes them-they're harder to hold in.
We have used the soothie. Only at night. I won't give it to her but MH will. After using it she doesn't latch as well and hurts my nipples. She can only keep it in her mouth for s short period of time. DD1 never used a pacifier.

I'm team pacifier! DD1 was formula fed so got one from day 1. DD2 is not even 24 hrs old but I've tried one with her. Sadly of the two times she's used the pacifier she hasn't fed well right afterwards but I think that was more due to being enraged that I dare put her down. After a little skin to skin time she latches great. And if I don't put her down we don't need a pacifier because she's quite content
I think the only reason I'd hold off on a pacifier from the start is if we were having latch issues to begin with.
All my girls have used them and we've never had issues. Right now LO likes the soothie bc that's what we got at the hospital. But I'm hoping we can switch to Mam as that's what the older girls took.
We will be starting from day 1. DD only took a pacifier a couple days in her life and it was rough! I am hoping this one will use it as another soothing tool! We bought every kind you could and she wouldn't take any except the mam for a couple days and then didn't want anything to do with it. I don't think there will be confusion. If this one is having trouble latching like pp said then maybe we will hold off but otherwise we will start right away. Same with a bottle. Right when we get home. DD also wouldn't take a bottle. That was really hard because I could only leave for so long.
I love pacifiers and will definitely introduce one to this LO. DS used the soothies both with and without being attached to a wubanub. I specifically got a different brand of pacifier for this LO (can't recall which one right now) because I want to make sure that DS does not try to take her pacifier.

We introduced one as soon as I felt that breastfeeding was established - about 4-5 days. It hasn't affected his nursing at all. We're using soothies but I want to try other brands too because they fall out after a few minutes. I use them after a feed to help get him to sleep, or when he's fed but fussy. Not a magic bullet but I think they help.
We have been trying since week 2, but she just started to take one (soothies) it helps when she super fussy and maybe calms her before bed. She still doesn't love it, but I think it has helped at times.

With DS he got a pacifier right away, like shortly after he was born. He's been addicted ever since, we didn't have any issues with breastfeeding. With DD I've tried it a few times, she doesn't seem to interested, she rather have her hand. I would rather her take a paci because down the road I can take it away and it will be an easier habit to break.
I was planning to wait work th DD1 but she screamed her head off in the car on the way home so I gave it to her and it was like magic. I gave Soothie because I heard it was most like the nipple. She loved it and we never had a nursing issue. I was never able to transiti n her to another brand though. We bought Soothie again since it didn't cause issues with nursing but I may try to switch brands down the road. We didn't have a terrible time getting rid of it and even those few rough nights were worth all the peace and quiet the first 2 years
Owen had multiple (it felt like a million) heel pricks in the hospital to monitor his glucose levels. One of the nursery nurses brought us a soothie on day 3, we have been swapping between that & the MAM pacis ever since. We have had no issues with latching & breast feeding.

I will use them if #2 likes them. DS was super oral and always had something in his mouth so a paci was the best of things that could be in his mouth 24/7. Taking it away sucked for one night.
In the beginning we used the smoothies then went to nuks I think. Honestly though he didn't care. And we started at the hospital because it was the only way they could calm him for the hearing test.
We had no issues with the paci and bf. No latch issues, nipple confusion, or anything else. He was a BF champ.

We use MAM brand and have had no issues with nipple confusion and I think it's actually helped her latch and suck when it comes to nursing. She's been eating way better since we introduced a pacifier.
I brought a few different brands to the hospital (saved from DS who refused all of the dozen or so we tried) and we started using them on day 1. She prefers the MAM butterfly 0-6 month old ones.
I'm thrilled that she is taking one and does not appear to cause any confusion with nursing or feeding, if she is hungry the pacifier simply will not do. She seems to have particular times she will take it, when she's uncomfortable like during some diaper changes or when I have her a sponge bath or sometimes to help her fall asleep. Otherwise she's not interested.
Happy to get her started on self soothing, DS was never interested in pacifiers or his hands/thumb and it would have so helpful, it also meant my boobs became a human pacifier which was not ideal.

The lactation consultant suggested we not use one for awhile, so we waited til she was about two weeks. We use the soothie type, and she likes them. I think I'll try some other brands that stay in her mouth better!
We don't use pacifiers. At this point, we don't even own one to offer. I guess that could change if she ends up being super fussy... But we managed dd1 without one - so I hope to keep that going.
