What toys are your LOs playing with now?

I need some ideas for learning toys. Yesterday he played with one of those pop up toys with the switches (this www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00428LJ0G/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A367YBEX25WJNQ) at a friend's house and LOVED it. I was surprised he was able to figure out how to make it work. I realized I need more developmental or learning toys. I was looking at shape sorters and stacking rings and what not, but there are just so many options. I'd like to get some bang for my buck too.

DD has the same book fish8412 recommended. She loves it!!

I have wooden a wooden shape sorter and ring sorter but we haven't broken those out for her yet.

Right now I'd focus on things with different textures, sounds (things that crinkle, squeak etc) and are visually stimulating.

Do you have any local children's buy/sell/trade FB groups? You can usually find great toys there for cheap and in great condition.

Umm I have very few toys out. Sophie, a set of plastic keys, a few texture books, the jumper and soon, an exersaucer. Mostly she rolls around the floor chewing on her blanket. Although the other day she really enjoyed digging through the bucket of duplos so I should probably dig a few other things out.

I just ordered saucers- one for apt. and one for barn. She definitely is ready for more active play time. She likes sitting up so hoping. These will be a hit. She is still pretty into her activity mat. Apart from that she just likes putting things in her mouth at this point.

This is a good idea. He plays with crinkly things for awhile but I feel like he's interested in things he can manipulate. Taggie toys - he just prefers the real tags.

kcrkcs - my DD loves her saucer! but her melon is so big that if she's in there for more than six or seven minutes, she'll face plant into the toys and start freaking out.

I feel so bad laughing but the whole thing just strikes me as sort of hilarious.

Just this weekend I started showing DD some books that have different textures, etc. and moving DD's hands over the different things.

DD2 is into anything that she can grab and put into her mouth. If she's in a good mood she likes her bouncer. She likes sitting on the floor as long as I am right there paying my full attention to her.

His jumperoo is a huge hit, but I try not to put him in it too often.

As far as actual reading to him goes, Dr. Seuss books actually seem to entertain him. We only have 3 though and I need to get some more. Go, Dog, Go is REALLY (I mean EXTREMELY) tedious after the first read through.

I also recently got him this sensory ball toy by Infantino and it fascinates him

Anything that can be picked up and put in his mouth. Also anything he can hit that makes noise when he does it.

silverspoon - Go Dog Go was dd1's favorite for so long. I read that book at least twice a day for a year. I think I'll always have a soft spot for it because of that.

Dd2 likes anything she can hold and move around with her hands. Things that spin or turn are big hits.

She also has a few rattle type toys she likes.

She is mostly obsessed with trying to sit up unassisted right now, so toys are coming in second at the moment.

We got this for dd1 when she was about 8 months old and it's great. Our J16s are still a little young for it, but won't be too much longer:

Dd is loving her jumper and Sophie the giraffe, I think the giraffe is getting more use now than it has in 4 years.

K loves her jumper and activity mat. She has some crinkle books that she likes to try to cram into her mouth. Her favorite toy is her Lamaze Freddy Firefly.
