Hi! Very (very) late intro, but I've lurked for awhile and thought I could start participating some!
I have a 4 year old DD, and 5 month old DS (born Jan 12). That's all she wrote for us
I am 33 and DH is 35 and we live in the Chicago suburbs.
Things are going well with DS. Just weaned from BFing early than I wanted, but he has a milk allergy and though i cut all dairy out of my diet, I didnt feel it was helping. I'm fairly certain he hates sleep....we are typically up 2-3 times a nite.
Look forward to participating more, though it will mostly be in the evenings!

Welcome! Diary is hard! We are dealing with that with my 2yo. As far as sleep goes, 2-3 is our normal and it feels heavenly compared to my 2yo previous sleep habits. It's all in what you're use to

Welcome! Glad to have you join us
Many of our kids also hate sleep so you have a lot of company here. I would do a lot of things to have 2-3 wake ups. So many things. I of course would prefer none, but I gave up hoping for that.

Hello! Nice to meet you.
We have been dealing with milk/soy (and other) protein intolerance, too. Which formula are you using? Does it seem to be helping? Some days I'm ready to try formula and others I want to keep trying to BF at least a little longer. It's so tough.
We are also 2 to 3 wake ups a night. But like dizzycooks said, it's so much better than my dd1 was that it feels like I got a good sleeper this time.

We are now using Alimentum and have been for about 3 weeks full time. Honestly I don't feel it has made a difference. His biggest symptom is bad eczema on his cheeks and legs and I thought I was still eating something that was triggering it (soy, corn, etc.) It has improved some, mostly on his face, but nowhere near what I was expecting. I am really disappointed I stopped. We have a dermatology appt. Tomorrow to take a look at his skin. He's starting to scratxh the crap out of the back of his head
My original due date was Feb 3, so he surprised us by being 3 weeks early! We were actually in the ER for my daughter with a super high fever that wouldnt break with medicine when my water broke. No better place to be I guess!

Jumping in here
My little dude along with another poster's baby have been battling eczema.
J has had it pretty terribly since about 2 months and nothing we did helped. The dermatologist and a prescription steroid ointment and now a non steroid prescription cream have made a HUGE difference. I really hope your dermatologist can help.

His pedi perscribed a mild steroid cream that we've been using when he gets flares on his face, and twice a day on his legs. It helps on his face, but the spots have never gone away on his legs. We also use VaniCream and only bathe once a week with dove soap.
Sorry there are other little ones going through that. Terrible to see.
Welcome! I am the other with a lo with eczema. It's much better with the prescription the dr have us. There is one spot on her back that just isn't fully going away though. She is stil scratching the back of her head and we've tried everything the dermatologist has given us with no luck. At this age we had to start unswaddling her at night. It's not as bad but still not 100% better. Hopefully the dermatologist can figure it out for you.
Glad you came out to play! We are a pretty chill, nice group.
I just brought G to the pedi this week for double ear infections, eczema and milk allergy. I too stopped nursing/pumping earlier than I planned, but I think with me working full time, DH's work travel and a milk allergy, this soy formula will be what keeps me sane instead of trying to cut out dairy from my diet.

This is us. Due to the ear infections, we also got a Rx cream and a non Rx cream from the doc for his eczema. Poor man is on 3 oral meds, breathing treatments and 2 creams. But he is starting to finally feel better,...just in time for DH to come home tonight after being gone this whole week and I've had to deal with all of this by myself. LOL
My original due date was Feb 3, so he surprised us by being 3 weeks early! We were actually in the ER for my daughter with a super high fever that wouldnt break with medicine when my water broke. No better place to be I guess!
Wow! That's a way more exciting birth story than my scheduled C-section! LOL! I am glad everything worked out ok for you despite the exciting beginning.

I'm not sure if your ped let you know, but many babies with milk allergy also have soy allergy. If the new formula doesn't help you might try Alimentum or another hydrolyzed formula. Hope your little guy is feeling better soon!

I'm sorry the formula isn't helping. That has got to be such a huge disappointment. The fear that formula won't help, or that she will refuse it, has been the only thing keeping me BFing on some of the bad days we've had.
It can be so crazy when you don't know what's causing the symptoms. My dd2 has had severe vomiting, blood in her stool, and a tiny bit of eczema. The pediatric GI doc said we basically just have to wait for her to outgrow it since I've cut all the usual culprits out of my diet. She recommended continuing to breastfeed despite dd2's issues, so that helps on days I want to quit, too.
I keep thinking there will be some magic bullet that will somehow make her better, if I could only find it. I stopped eating dairy, soy, beef, corn, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nuts, seeds, citrus and strawberries. The blood in her poo went away, which is great, but she still has tons of tummy pain, vomiting, and a little eczema.
Anyway. This is a long way of saying I know what you have been going through. I hope the dermatologist can help. It's really difficult when you feel helpless to make your baby better despite working so hard.

Welcome! Honestly, 2-3 wake-ups sounds... heavenly. I think we're at around 6-8ish. I say "ish" because it's not like I count. It would probably make me irrationally angry. Plus she's up at 5:15 all chipper and demanding to be picked up. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack and make this about sleep.

She did. We went through this with T and Enfamil Prosobee worked great so we are starting there since it's the lesser of the evils as far as price (compared to Alimentum and another that she initially suggested). He's doing well so far and not sure if it's feeling better from the meds, the creams solving the worst of his skin issues or the formula switch helping. So we'll see from here, he's only been on all this crap since Tuesday.

Very true. I will be thankful it is only 2-3
Edited to change the emoji that popped up on there

All the kudos to you for giving up so much. It is HARD. My limit was dairy, soy and egg (briefly).
Dermatologist went well i think. Four prescriptions later:
- very mild steroid for his face and ears - bit stronger for legs and body which are the most stubborn for him - special oil to put on back of his head to minimize itching - if we want to use it an antihistamine to help control itching.
Couple of interesting things she said:
Some babies just have eczema and it doesnt have to be tied to any food allergy. Was sorry to hear i had given up BFing because if his eczema was the only reason (it pretty much was), than it was very unlikely the cause.
Certain things will trigger it - being sick, vaccines, seasons, etc. Then you just manage through as you need to.
She recommended two different doses of the antihistamine -the one in the daytime would be lower so it doesnt have the drowsy effect. One at nite a little stronger. She said the problem is he is burning so many calories at nite moving around to itch his skin and head that he's waking up hungry and irritated because of his skin. And that its very important that they are getting the right amount of sleep at nite, so she wants to manage that a little better to see if that helps some with his temperment and sleeping at nite (even though he is only up 2-3 times a nite)
She recommended daily baths, immediatey pat dry, meds on affected areas, cover whole body with moisturizing cream.
I feel like there was more but I can't think of it. I walked out feeling prettybgood, minus dissapointment that i stopped BFing when I probably didnt need to. Bright side, i can freely drink all the wine
