I figured I'd start a thread so I don't bring down the randoms.
***Possible trigger warning*** Family loss/cancer
Backstory: Spring of '14 MIL was diagnosed with stage 3 uterine cancer. She finished chemo/radiation the end of last year. She went for a scan in May and said her lymph nodes were cancer free (yay!) but they found spots on her liver and need to do a biopsy. After the biopsy we find out its cancer and she'll start treatment. She tends to not share everything, as I'm sure it's hard to tell your kids this type of stuff.
She started chemo last week and it wiped her out. She felt like she had the flu and spent all week in bed. Luckily my SIL (who is an RN) came to town and was able to go to MIL's appt to find out what's going on. Turns out she has 4 huge masses, taking up almost her entire liver. Chemo would give her 6 months, but she'd be sick and in bed the whole time. She has decided to end treatment. They're saying 3 months, but at least she won't feel as awful as when on chemo.
This fucking sucks guys. Fuck cancer! DH (and I) really hope she can make it to meet this new lil guy. He's trying to be strong for me and hasn't said much. I really don't know what to say/do other than asking how he's doing.
So that was really long, and you're awesome if you made it all the way through. I just had to get this out.

I'm so sorry. Cancer really does fucking suck.
I was in the same place during my last pregnancy you and your husband are in now. My dad had a long battle with liver and throat cancer, and when I was right at the end of 2nd tri he found out the cancer was in his lungs and decided to discontinue treatment. He passed away very shortly thereafter. If you have any desire to talk about what's happening, feel free to PM me. I am happy to listen.
I'm so sorry serendipity731. This brings back a lot of feels for me - 2.5 years ago my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. They found spots on her liver and were sure it had spread. In her case she got lucky and they did like 8 biopsies and all came back benign. That week of being certain it had spread was so, so awful.
I really feel for you guys and I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

Oh no. I'm so sorry, this must be incredibly difficult for your H and his family (and for you too). I hope she is able to meet your baby and have as much quality of life as possible as she goes through this
serendipity731 I'm so sorry about your MIL. My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time. I hope your family is able to spend as much time with her as possible.
