Lurker coming out to say hi!

Hi everyone!  I'm threetexans, formerly twotexans at the place that shall not be named.  I spent time on 3T, TTCAL, PGAL, and PAL.  We spent 3 years TTC with IF issues.  We now have a 17 month old DD, who is our little rainbow baby. We also have one angel baby.

DD was delivered via emergency c-section at 32w2d.  I had severe pre-eclampsia and diastolic heart failure prior to delivery.  After DD was delivered, I developed pulmonary edema and aspiration pneumonia.   Due to my complications, and very high risk or recurrence with future pregnancies, we are OAD.  I still struggle with it, but I'm coming to terms with it.  DD spent 4 weeks in the NICU after birth.  She is thriving, but she does have some gross motor delays that have us in weekly physical therapy.  I have made almost a full recovery.  I still have some residual lung capacity issues from the PE, but it is slowly improving.

She truly is our miracle baby!  After over a dozen medicated/medicated IUI cycles, we had decided to move forward with IVF.  She was our little cycle break surprise, while waiting on a second opinion consult for IVF.

I can relate to a lot of what you went through. My kiddo was born at 29w2d after severe pre-e, IUGR, and practically nonexistent fluid levels. We did 9 weeks in the NICU, and 3 weeks before she was discharged was when we got the final advisories not to try again because of the damage to my body. My complications from the pre-e were renal instead of pulmonary, but I hear you with the risks. It's rough at first when you're dealing with the stress and trauma of a premature birth, and then dealing with the O&D factor on top of it can sometimes amplify the emotions. It does get better with time.

I am so sorry you had to deal with it too.  It's not a fun situation to be in.  The beginning of renal failure was the ticket that sent us for the emergency c-section.  That was the icing on the cake.  Earlier in the day we had hoped that I could just be on hospital bed rest for a little longer, but me kidneys had other plans.   Luckily they recovered quickly.  We were told that the minimum wait was at least 2 years for my body to recover, and the risks increased more with age.  Having IF, being 40 before we could try again, and the increased risks just aren't something my husband was comfortable dealing with.  I could handle the risks a little more, but I know being OAD is the smartest and safest thing for me.
