I was in l&d last night with a mast cell attack. I followed protocol and called ahead and the doc on call didn't call back until I was sitting in the waiting area. I was having trouble breathing and sounded like a nasally mess. I was vomiting also it was a mess. It took an hour to get my meds from the pharmacy and because of this I had to take more of my own oral meds. The attending didn't show up until 1.5 hours after I came in and was extremely flippant and didn't listen to me. They only gave me steroids and not my whole regimen so I ended up having another attack while there. They didn't take me seriously and call the doctor back and decided I was fine and should go home. My blood pressure was 85/41. So I took more oral Benadryl while they were messing around with discharge papers and my mom was going to take me to the er around the corner.
By the time we were in the lobby I had to take another Benadryl dose bringing me to my daily allowed max. When my mother finally got the car I was feeling passibly better so we decided to go home and take my night meds and see how it went if I got worse she would take me to the er.
Well I slept through the night totally knocked out. When I woke up this morning I was having another attack so I decided to go in immed I called the doc on call and it happened to be an MFM who took things more seriously. But I had to have multiple doses of meds today and they ended up calling my immunologist because things weren't turning around so he prescribed a different med and I was finally better and we all decided I could go home. Also it was snowing buckets so it was best to go then.
So tomorrow I need to call my OB and I want her to know how irresponsible the first OB was and that if she had done what she was supposed to I wouldn't have had to come back a second day 10x worse. It was basically malpractice my mother was appalled and said it was better to leave then get terrible care.
How would you word it so she understands how seriously delinquent that doc was? The issue is this horrible doc is on quite a bit and I'm not really allowed to go to the er bc I am so far along and will get transferred to l&d which has already happened once.
