DD got her first birthday party invitation. My S13 kiddo is my first and I guess I knew this day would come. It's a party for one of her daycare classmates, but not one of her "friends". There is a bounce house, and a Mickey/Minnie Mouse that is coming. There is part of me that wants to go because it'll be fun for DD and I like to get to know parents and the other kids, and it's clear the parents are putting together a nice party. The other part of me wonders if it's just an invite because they should invite the whole class and we really aren't expected to go since it isn't one in her direct class. I'm not sure if we'll know anybody there. I mean I know who the kid is, but not the parents since we don't cross paths at drop off/pick up times.

DS is obsessed with birthdays so I would take him. I have a lot of social anxiety but he is very social so I want to make sure I'm not holding him back.

I'd go, it sounds like a fun time for the kids. Hopefully there will be someone there you recognize or is easy to chat with.

What's the etiquette for this type of stuff , do you then have to invite this girl to your DDs party? Just wondering..

If we did a kids party we would invite, but at this point we do family only.

I would go. I would be interested in trying to meet the other parents and I know DD1 would have a blast. I would get a small gift like a $15 play doh set or something

It was ok. The family really went all out, but there was only one other friend from daycare, who happened to be the birthday girl's best friend, so DD ended up playing by herself. It took her most of the party to feel comfortable and even get in the bounce house. Plus it was super hot out.

That's pretty much how DD1 is at every party. She is super shy and finds them very overwhelming. Hope she still had fun regardless.

At least at this age she doesn't realize they are not including her and she can just go about her business playing.
