So my sister is in the Alaskan bush for 2 months doing some salmon studies. She is getting homesick and is bored out of her mind in her time off. She likes to read, so I was going to send her some books. I was thinking a series or two, but it doesn't have to be. I know she has read Game of Thrones and 50 shades series. She likes just about everything, but I was thinking something not too deep/dark since she is in the bush.

The Outlander series. It's kind of porny at times, but the love story is so good. Plus Highland culture and all that - she'll appreciate that living in the bush. They are by Diana Gabaldon.
And also, on a similar note, the Into the Wilderness series by Sara Donati. Similar to Outlander in the whole historical romance thing with strong females, but less porny. It's set in America and deals a lot with Native American culture.
Both series are amazing enough that I will reread again in the future. I binge read both last year.

I'd throw in something lite. When I was doing research, I felt like I had to read the literature all the time and then was too tired to read anything but trash. Maybe some mysteries--I like the Lucy Valentine series, or maybe something like Bridget Jones' Diary...
