I never got a swing/bouncer for DD because I wanted to keep things simple. Is a swing/bouncer something that you guys have used/are going to use? I'm wondering if that'll make juggling two littles easier, particularly since we aren't supposed to let LO cry too much before he gets his surgery.
I'm having this argument with myself right now!
We have a swing AND a bouncer - both were gifts. I want the swing more than the bouncer, but all babies are different. Maybe my kid will prefer the bouncer so I should hang on to it? One of my sister's kids hated ALL the things, one was neutral, and one really likes the swing.
I don't know!
One of mine LOVED both, the other hated the bouncer but loved the swing. If you have room, keep both
DH brought home fresh bread, fancy cheeses, olives and fruit. And fake wine. What a sweetheart. DS1 just made himself a sandwich with baguette, truffled basque cheese and blackberries. My 6 year old, ladies and gentlemen.

Our swing was priceless for naps and the little bouncer was so helpful for a baby holder upstairs and during showers. Both were gifts, so the decision wasn't hard to make. I actually considered getting a second bouncer so I didn't have to carry it between floors but I held off and then she was too big for the bouncer. I'm keeping my eye out for a good deal on a second one this time around.
That reminds me, we would often take our bouncy seat with us if we went over to friends' houses bc it folds flat. It was just nice to have a safe place to set the baby, kwim?
Edit: folds. Without a k. I should not post while snuggling.

We have a swing and a baby bjorn babysitter balance. I loved the babysitter balance because it folded flat, washed easily, and grew with him - he still uses it as a chair sometimes, because the back is adjustable and can be used as a toddler seat. Not great for naps, but he liked it a lot otherwise.

Sigh, why are babies so unpredictable with such expensive items?! Haha...I really do wonder if we were that picky or if there just weren't any other alternatives so our parents forced us to like things. For instance, refusal of certain brands of bottles. I'm pretty sure there were probably two brands 30 or so years ago.
It is pretzel day at work! I feel like I'm in an episode of the office and could not be happier. Insert Stanley "Back a the line" gif.
PRETZEL DAY. Major downside of working from home = no pretzel day. Omg that episode is so funny!
So many things in this thread I want to reply to and comment on yet this is the first one I absolutely MUST. I freaking love the Pretzel Day episode and now all I can think of is Stanley, lol!

shanny do you have any friends who can lend you these items? We never had them with DD1. With DD2 one friend lent a bouncy seat (she hated) and another a swing (she sort of liked but didn't sleep much better in and DH hated, so we gave it back). We used a Rock 'n' Play as a baby holder, which I regret because she ended up developing a slight flat spot from it.

Before knowing about DH's surgery, I signed us up to do the grilling at the weekly swim team fundraiser at the pool. I was running around like a madwoman when suddenly, after picking up a wet DD2, I get WAY more wet than I expect and start dripping.
You guys, either I peed myself or my water broke. I'm assuming it's the former because it's basically stopped. If it broke then something is currently plugging the hole. So yeah....I peed myself in public at my pool without knowing it at all.
We sort of have both. A mamaroo and a bouncer. They served different purposes. The mamaroo could actually put DS to sleep and he'd hang out there for a long time. The bouncer is great for somewhere to put the baby when you shower/cook. We have the baby bjorn one and love it. I'm lazy and like that I can bounce it with my feet while I sit on the couch.
...that horrible moment when you remember that your brother and sister in law are sending you a mamaroo in the mail.
I'm looking at a bouncer, swing, and mamaroo now.
In addition to an awesome activity gym/playmat and an exersaucer.

Oh no! Make sure it's pee, please. And if it is, I'm so sorry. At least you were at a pool? And not, like, the bank?

shanny, we had a bouncer and a small travel swing. Ds didn't really like the swing, but he LOVED the bouncy seat. We used that all the time. When his sleep issues were so so bad, and he surprisingly slept decently at my sister's a couple times in their rock and play, we ended up buying one. When you're desperate for sleep, $40 on a an extra piece of baby gear is totally worth it!

I reeeeeeally hope it was pee, and I suspect it was, but I have heard stories of PROM happening and then the baby's head plugging the rupture like a cork. Do you have an pH test strips?

I'm lying down. My OB told me with my last pregnancy when I had a water breaking scare that a slow leak would pool if I lay down and then gush a bit when I stood up and that's how I would know. She also said it would keep coming and even pick up.

When I had questionable fluids with DD1, the on call dr told me to lay down for 10-20 minutes than stand up. If it's your water it should gush down your leg again when you stand up. FX that it was pee. I'm sure you wouldn't be the first to pee in (or at) the pool.

I see that you already know this, gratefulgirl FX that it was pee!!!
I just had to have sushi tonight. I settled for crunchy shrimp and my H got the good stuff. Then I totally forgot what I was doing and we shared soy sauce. I know it's probably fine, but that doesn't stop part of my brain from thinking that I've definitely contracted some food borne illness.

Honestly, lately I would be more afraid of granola bars and frozen peas than sushi

When I can stomach lunch, I often opt for california rolls or veggie rolls. It's prepped in the same place as the raw stuff. I'm still good to go!

Sometimes you just have to have sushi! My first non-pregnant meal will include spicy yellowtail.

Me too! And today one thing I did while I was stressing out about life was find where to get brown rice/quinoa sushi or sushi without rice (to make it GD diet friendly). I found some! So now I can get myself some truly awesome looking California rolls and cooked shrimp rolls. Cannot. Wait.

After speaking to a friend who just had a baby - I have come to the realization that my pubic pain is not just normal third trimester stuff. Now that I think about it - I've been in pain for months and have tried to just grit my teeth and deal with it. I think at my NST tomorrow I may ask for a referral for a PT or something. I had assumed that there was nothing I could do to relieve this, but maybe that's not true? I can hardly walk for more than a few minutes.
Behind our back fence is the back lot of an Albertson's, so when they dump their frying grease, the smell wafts over and I get a very intense desire for fried chicken... which I don't normally care for, haha. Next door on one side is an authentic mexican place, and a couple doors up the way is my favorite pho place. Depending on time of day, I get the yummiest smells out my back door lol
In the bouncer/swing debate, we were gifted a little bouncer chair and handed down a swing, so I got to have both. I don't know if it was maybe not the best idea, but DD1 slept half nights in her bouncer by my bed a LOT in her early months. It made it so I could get a few hours in bed without stressing, but then she was right there when she woke up to eat, and we coslept the rest of the night. Also, it was super portable, so I could bring her into the bathroom during showers. We used the swing sometimes, like if her daddy was on early morning duty if I hadn't slept well, he would doze on the couch, she could nap in the swing, etc.
I think I am in the minority where if made to choose, I would do the bouncer again and skip the swing. I personally got a TON of utility from it. But if cheap, or gifted, both have their uses, for sure.

I feel your pain... literally! My first pregnancy I couldn't get anyone to take me seriously, so I just lived in crazy pelvic pain for months. This time, it was more bearable but still got bad (I have trouble standing up, putting weight on one leg at a time as in walking, stairs kill, etc) and I actually had a midwife I only saw because I went to the walkin clinic for other things, she saw me move, asked where it hurt, and ordered me a support belt for my hips. It hasn't gotten here yet, so I don't know how it works, but... there are a few things other than just having to suck it up. I hope you find something that helps!!
