I was all no characters on shirts too. Then I got dd1 a bubble guppy shirt when we went to see them live. She freaking loved that shirt so now she has a few different character shirts because she gets so excited. They're usually for daycare.
This kinda relates to an argument I had with MIL over dolls. (I told her there would be no dolls, & she tried to get on a soapbox about it) If it's not an option, there is nothing to throw a tantrum over.
But I'm not into overly cutesy stuff. That's me. Hence the non-froggy frog seat.
Just curious as to why no dolls?
I don't like dolls. I didn't even as a child; I only had stuffed animals. And as an adult, I find them kinda creepy (especially ones that talk or make sounds). Now if/when B get older & can express her own wants, she says she wants a doll then I'll consider it. But I'm not going to encourage it or buy my infant child something She can't even want yet. Basically, I was trying to set a hard boundary with MIL bc she was insinuating she was going to buy one for B anyway despite my wishes. And I see this as part of a bigger issue with her.

Character shirts: My kid has 4 ninja turtle onesies. I need to get some star wars ones. I have a billion character tees for myself that no longer fit because of pregnancy boos, so you probably see where I stand.
Dolls: Sigh. I have lost this battle. MIL got the fucking creepiest porcelain doll thing ever. Also I swear if one more person buys her a stuffed animal i will go bsc. She I 4 months and she has half a dozen stuffed animals. Stop the fucking madness.

It's more common than you think. When I was in 7th grade the gifted program teacher told me that before she moved here and worked at the school she had never met a Jewish person and she was so confused at first bc no one had horns. I told her she prob shouldn't repeat that ppl, especially parents

Yea The convo with MIL started with stuffed animals, & I told her that B didn't need anymore; she has plenty. Then MIL started in on buying her dolls. I flat said NO dolls and k8nd a relented on the animals like if you must then animals are fine. But seriously the woman has bought one outfit & one box of diapers for B. But she's hellbent on buying her crap I don't want?? Sigh it's par for our relationship.
I was thrown back by the horn comment too. I mean one I don't even know what that's about and two is that an insinuation that all Midwesterners are bigots? Idk

It's not, it was referring to the never having met a Jewish person before, not that most ppl who haven't met a Jew believe that. My few experiences with it had nothing to do with Midwesterners. There are ppl who believe that Jewish ppl have horns, obviously ppl who have met a Jewish person before (or you know ppl with common sense or a TV) would know that it's not true. It's based on a mistranslation of something in the bible, I believe. I always thought it was just something that people told you other ppl believe that wasn't real until it happened to me. It's not a common belief obviously.

jewel I get that. But the way roseinbloom 's comment was worded hit me oddly. It read in a way like she was making a gross generalization.

I grew up next to a town with a high jewish population and went to school in a town with a jewish school blocks from my catholic school. My friends in high school were all jewish and my first boyfriend was jewish (scandalized his mother). I love jewish culture and traditions. But even if I had never, ever seen someone who was jewish I wouldn't assume they had fucking horns. Like who the hell thinks that's a thing? This makes me sad that antisemetics exist in this day and age.
I don't have any menonite or amish people where I live but I don't think they have 3 legs or some shit.
FFFC: Some days when I have been less than productive & H asks what I did today, I admit to him that I didn't do a lot. But he always follows it up with "oh did B have a rough day?" And I reply with yes she did.
The kid is nowhere near as difficult as I make her out to be some times. #scapegoat

I do this with MOTN wake ups. H has no effing clue how many times or how long I was up with her, so even if she had a good night, I exaggerate sometimes so he'll deal with the boys while I sleep in.
I had book club tonight and slightly tipsy, but my UO is I think Taylor Swift needs some time alone. I'm not even a huge fan. It just crossed my mind that she's already dating someone else. Take a break, chile. Find yourself. Then get back into the dating scene.
But I'm not one to tell anyone how to live their life.
TSwift eats serious crackers for me, and the fact that she's dating Hiddles is making it worse. I mean, it's her life (or promo life of you will) but I still don't like it.
She only dates so she can have new material for her next song/album. I don't dislike her but she can be annoying
Confess.....I don't know any Jewish people IRL (reminder I'm in OK)
This is one of the things that makes me nervous about living in the Midwest. And the cold weather. And tornados.
This is so weird and hilarious to me. I went to a university where about more than a quarter of the student population was Jewish and I taught at a completely secular high school where about 70% of the students were Jewish. I think I could count like 3 friends of mine from college who aren't Jewish, and they are all not white, haha. When I found out America was only 1.5% Jewish, I was shocked. Based on my personal experiences and friends groups on the coasts I would have thought it was like 15% or 20%, even taking into account middle America and all other ethnic and religious minorities. So funny how where you live informs your perception of things so powerfully.

For me it depends on what the words on the clothes are... We got J a onesie that says "daddy's little Irish half-pint" because it's cute (and she 3/8ths Irish so not quite half but whatever).
My biggest thing is I hate letting J wear the color pink... I hate pink. I hate how people in general assume that because I'm a girl I should like the puketastic color. I think it's nice if a boy wears it though.
As for GoT, I keep telling H that we should quit watching it, but he's hooked so...

My first tantrum ever was refusing to wear pink. I feel ya. Although clothing is coming leaps and bounds beyond what it used to be with corals, blues, yellows, and reds for girls. I love finding differently colored clothes for girls.
