Transitioned DD to her new room and big girl bed last night. She did everything right. She's a fucking unicorn. She's also still asleep. I'm in shock.
We just did this with DS a couple weeks ago and I was amazed at how well he took to it! He waits for us to come get him still before getting out of bed and it cracks me up (I am not encouraging that to change for a longgg time yet). Fingers crossed everything stays smooth for you!
I'm at the lab with 30 minutes left in my GD test, then off to OB for a shot of Rhogam. Fun times! If I'm not feeling awful from the glucose crash afterwards I'm going to pick up DS early from preschool for lunch & Costco, then pick up DD to hang at home for the rest of the afternoon (her school is 15 miles away from DS's preschool/my dr office, so it's easier to just get DS and do errands first)
I'm back to obsessing over double strollers. I don't want to spend a ton of money so I'm trying to forget about my favs, but the lesser expensive ones just don't seem to cut it...

I read that you can start as early as 18 months and that you should transition at least 2 months before a new baby and when you're not going through any other big changes like potty training, moving, etc.
I mean, these things probably just make it easier. Whatever your situation is is how it is.

Humph...he is only 14mo today. I really think he'd be ok if we transitioned early and used rails. He walks back to his room and grabs his lovey through his rails when he's ready for bed. We prob won't do anything until Novemberish, which would put him around 18mo... I'm just so torn.

cbrandt1 we're going with this one. I like that it's got the click connect and has a sit or stand option for DD as she grows. It's only $200 so it won't break the bank.

Well, do you plan to have your baby in the nursery right away? If not, that might help give you more time. We had DD in a cosleeper for the first month before putting her in her crib.

I've considered that one and the Modes Duo!
I think I'll end up just doing one of those and calling it done so I stop researching them! I wore DS a ton last time so I expect I'll wear this one too and put D in the umbrella stroller most of the time.
So then I have to decided whether I buy an infant carrier or another convertible car seat... This is the worst part of being pregnant.

I have the Halo Bassisnest that we used for 2 months last time and I think we will use that again. MIL will be here too for a month or so, so we can't really change the guest room to a kid room until she leaves.

Did you like your Halo? I was looking at the Halo swivel the other day thinking it might be nice to have a bassinet instead of taking up room in our room for the PNP.

theotherjacobsons - That's the other one I was looking at! I'd like to keep the PNP on the first floor so I just started looking into other options for upstairs. I may try the crib right from the start, but it seems like right next to me would be way easier.

We transitioned DD to a twin mattress on the floor at 15 months. She always HATED her crib and started napping better daycare on the cots so we went for it. It didn't improve her sleep (nothing ever did), but she didn't get out of it at that age, just cried for us.
I trimmed my own bangs this morning. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out and that it doesn't look like someone took a weed whacker to them.
We're only working a half day today so we're all waiting for the word to leave. Nothing yet. Hopefully we get out of here by 1 or 2. I told the sitter to call me when DS gets up from his nap so I see a child free Target run in my future. They also just built a half price books by my house so this could get ugly
Good luck pismoduo! Food after this test will be delicious..
I got the good new yesterday that I passed the 1 hour test but I had low platelets in my bloodwork so I have to go get stuck a whole bunch for retests now so I just get the benefit of not having to drink the sugar.
cbrandt1, have you checked Craigslist for double strollers? I've heard you can sometimes find really good deals on gently or barely used ones. We're waiting until baby is actually here before deciding whether to buy a double or not - with a 3-year age gap, I'm not sure we'll actually need one.
I've been torn about transitioning DD to a twin bed (with a rail) because I really don't want to buy a second crib, but she loves her crib and sleeps great, and I don't really want to mess with that at this point. She also just potty trained in April/May (at her own initiative). #2 can sleep in the PNP for at least several months, so I'm planning to wait until then and reassess. I do love the idea of having both of them contained in cribs for as long as possible...

My DS started climbing out of his crib at 15 months so we transitioned then. It was very easy for us. If you think he will do ok, I don't see why you can't try.
