O is 6 weeks and his poop output has decreased to maybe 3-4 times a day. For his first couple of weeks it was pretty much happening after almost every feed. He is still having plenty of wet diapers. I don't want to spiral on Google- is this something I need to be worried about?

I think this is totally in the range of normal. I know some breastfed babies decrease to once every couple days eventually.
Andrea, seems fine to me. After her initial couple of weeks of constant poop, DD2 is down to one or two a day. Like pdxlaurens said, some BF babies don't poop everyday, and can go a few days without going. The only reason to worry would be if he seems uncomfortable or is straining and can't go.

DS is only 1.5 weeks old and is a pooping machine still. But I definitely think it decreases as they get older. My niece is 4 months old and BF. I can't remember exactly how many weeks she was, but she definitely starting pooping less. She was going once a week, which I think was less than what she "should" be doing but the doc was still not worried. He recommended a little prune juice (which did the trick). But anyways, I think what you are experiencing seems normal.
My pedi warned us that it might decrease to as little as once a week so we should not be concerned unless she is straining or acting uncomfortable. DD is down to about 3 a day.
DD is also a pooping machine at 1.5 weeks. It is starting to slow down though. I think as long as he is going every day and doesn't seem like he's in pain from it then it's probably fine. I know I was happy if DD1 went once a day.
I can't wait for this to happen with DD! I don't remember the exact timing with DS, but his poop definitely decreased after the immediate newborn period.
Ds1 was and still is a pooping machine. Ds2 is only 11 days but we are having at least 6 poops a day. And some of those are multiple explosions. They are/were BF babies.
Sounds normal to me! G hadn't pooped for almost 2 days at his 1 week pedi appt, and the the pedi was unconcerned. She told us to stimulate him with a thermometer and vaseline. He pooped 4 times the next day and has kept that up since.
I'm waiting for him to poop. He's only gone once so far, and they were noticing he was looking a little yellow so have been monitoring his bilirubin levels.
This always blows my mind-I've had two babies that didn't poop much and I was worried because of the opposite! DS used to poop every 7-10 days as a newborn-it was CRAZY!!! The doctors had us do suppositories when he reached 10 days. DD still doesn't go very often, but probably once every other day. They're just not poopers. I feel relieved for her when she does go though and I know she's helping her tummy feel better, so I kind of wish she'd go more-when we reach the two day mark, I can tell she uncomfortable and she finally lets it all out.
Anyone else's LO grunt and work a bit to poop? She's not quite straining and crying but sometimes cries to eat and then it's obvious she needed to poop. She stops sucking and grunts a bunch with an occasional whimper. She poops multiple times a day and it looks fine. She's like 90% bf with an occasional few oz of formula. I don't remember my other daughter working at all to poop.

Stringy, yes. He works at it quite a bit sometimes. Occasional whimper here too. I wish I could sleep through it at night, because once he succeeds, he often goes back to sleep.

My current poop obsession is texture - it used to have more solids but now Usually doesn't have any of those white solid chunks. Color is right, but worrying if there should be chunks. How is it that I will always find something to worry about?!

How do we know the difference between poop uncomfortable And gas uncomfortable? M goes maybe once a day but she is colic too. Wondering if I should call the pedi...I feel bad

I don't know. P had a horribly fussy day yesterday with lots of gas and spit up. Today seems more normal but I dunno what to make of it.
Have you bicycled her legs and some of the other gassy tricks?
