I just picked up Expecting Better and Your Pregnancy week by week by J. Schuler becuase I liked the weekly pictures and excersises they give. I don't know when I will have energy to read them though.
Off topic but are kegals really a thing? I feel like I can't do it right.

I read Expecting Better the first month we were trying. MH is an economist, so he also read it and really enjoyed it (the author and her husband are famous among economists, so for him this was maybe like reading a celebrity pregnancy book? idk). I found it very soothing to know more about the statistical evidence behind medical recommendations, and it made me chill out about caffeine and weight gain and those kinds of things.

Apparently so. I've been warned that at prenatal yoga we will hold hands with a partner, squat down, and then do several reps of kegels. I cannot even.

Creepy lurker who is hoping to join this month here - they are totally a thing. Since my first kid, my OB asks me to - uh - "squeeze [her] finger" during my annuals.

Kegels are very much a thing, and although they are weird, they allegedly help your bladder control and vagina muscles a whole lot, and supposedly they can improve your post partum recovery if you have done them a lot.
I read Mayo Clinic the first time around and probably will this time too. It's pretty cut and dry which I like, just the information and facts. The Pregnancy Countdown Book was ok too, I like reading "ahead" to see what might be coming in terms of symptoms, movement, etc.
I loved Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy. Not a true pregnancy information oriented book but I found it laugh out loud funny as she details her pregnancy and childbirth.
I was not a huge fan of What To Expect When You're Expecting. But I think it was just because all the other books I read delivered the information so much better. That said, I did like the What To Expect The First Year after I had my daughter.
I hadn't heard of "Expecting Better" but am off to Amazon to check it out!
During my first pregnancy I liked to sing "Every day I'm kegel-ing" and then try to kegel to the beat of the song (you know "party rock/everyday I'm hustling"). It was a huge fail but at least I tried kegeling every now and again lol

I feel like this would help me figure out if I'm actually doing it right. I think I'm squeezing but nothing happens. Ok on my to do list is to google this in detail.

Have you started prenatal yoga yet? I had to pause my membership at my normal studio since they only do hot yoga but all the prenatal places won't take you until second trimester. I understand the reasoning but I miss going to classes
No - my studio does it starting in the second trimester, too. A friend went when she was KU last summer and loved it, so I'm hoping to go in a few months. I've just been doing my regular classes but modifying or skipping poses based on this website's recommendations: www.yogajournal.com/article/teach/tools-for-teaching-prenatal-yoga-the-first-trimester/ My instructor is a work friend, so I haven't actually said anything to her, I just started slacking on ab work and sitting in the back.

I bought a couple books last time but never got around to reading them since I would always Google or read things on my old BMB board. I say yes to the library idea!!
Also although it's too soon now, I would have totally joined a mommy group, even better if they are active (walking running activities) I know so much more this time because of the ones I'm apart of and the shared info from everyone.
ETA: there's Fb mommy groups in your area and nation wide that are great for lurkers too!!
