I can't believe I'm starting a randoms thread but this is too exciting to not share with anyone. One of our chickens laid a double yolk egg! Identical twins (ish)!
I never know whether to count this as one or two eggs in baking.

That's neat! I feel like I'd have to lean towards counting it as 1 egg since you're missing all the egg white of a 2nd egg, but I'm not a very good cook/baker so my opinion may not mean much, lol.
Ugh. Just got the mail to discover that my insurance company denied the claim for my anatomy scan. The reason is that my plan "does not cover services we find to be experimental or investigational". How is a standard anatomy scan not covered?
I tried to call 3 times and each time it dropped my call as soon as I had put my info in. Now I'm in an online chat with a customer service representative.
Who just told me the issue is because it was in the 19th week. Are you kidding me?
Edit: Ah, apparently it's because there was no *reason* given for the scan, and it's not covered as a "routine service". Which... like... absolutely baffles me. An anatomy scan is not routine for a pregnancy?

WTF?? I feel like the anatomy scan is more routine than the NT scan! Maybe the dr office just needs to correct how the claim was submitted?

It's seeming that way. Apparently they just need a reason for it. The rep is on hold with the OB office now, so hopefully we can resolve this.

It's ridiculous. It's like the only universal essential ultrasound. I hope they figure it out.

Exactly! If there's one ultrasound that pretty much every single pregnant person gets, it's the anatomy scan. It's seeming more like the issue is just the insurance company's system didn't like the lack of a reason/diagnosis code. They've contacted the doctor's office and asked for more detail. She said it might take 5 business days to figure it out. I hope it does.
If not, I'll appeal it. And if that doesn't work, I'll call the imaging center and see if they'll drop the rate. Cause I do not want to pay $818.10 out of pocket. Save
I have another dumb question today! So my boss told me she's getting me mermaid crib sheets from Pottery Barn but that they don't make a matching blanket or bumper. She said she wants me to pick ones that I like and let her know so she can buy them (and also tell her DD's name so she can have it monogrammed - she knows we're not planning to tell people the name so I think this is also a weird request).
I feel really awkward about this and don't know how to approach the situation. I didn't register at Pottery Barn. I don't know what sheets she's talking about so I don't know what will match. I also didn't register for a bumper because I thought I read that they can increase risk of SIDS.
Should I just tell her which blanket we registered for and just leave it at that? Or should I just tell her that I'm sure whatever she picks out will be fine? I hate telling people what to buy me. I know that's what a registry is essentially but saying it to someone just seems weird to me.
I would go with the first one. Tell her that you trust her judgement, but if she doesn't want to decide herself the one on your registry is probably fine. And that you'd prefer not to have a bumper because of the increase in SIDS risk. Save

Mine was denied as well because my doctor does it at the hospital instead of in office.
That might be part of the issue. Her practice has to send everyone over to an imaging center. The dating scan and NT scan had no issues, but those had more specific diagnosis codes, I would bet.

I would be honest with her and tell her you won't do bumpers. She's looking at expensive things and it would be worst of you're not gonna use it.
As for the name, don't tell her. It's your right. Tell you you're not sure of the name or keeping it a surprise.

I had a blahhhhhhh day. I had to work 8-8 and felt like crap this morning. Turns out my bp was 80/55. I couldn't get it up. I'm sure I'm super dehydrated. But drinking more water makes me feel sick, so I hardly ate anything today. I'm hoping after some decent rest I feel better tomorrow.
@pismudo my blood work in first tri (just the right stuff where they check for anemia, etc) was not covered for the same reason. It wasn't 'medically necessary.' But my AS and follow up Level 2 both were. Insurance companies suck.
annapunkalunka that sounds scary! Did your doctor give you any tips?
pippacricket I agree with other's suggestions, but I am so ridiculously a people pleaser I would probably give her initials to try and make everybody happy.

fem she told me to drink, drink, drink and rest. I told her if I don't feel better in the morning, I'll go in. I'm sure some IV fluids would make me feel much better.

I hope it gets better, I'm not used to hearing about low blood pressure.

Right!? I said at work "I feel like my blood pressure is high" and was super surprised when it was super low. My pulse was high, though so that's likely what I was feeling.
I've had a blah day too. We had such a busy weekend with DS birthday and birthday party! I cannot recover and I'm sooooo tired!! Hopefully tonight I sleep well and wake up less exhausted!

Ooh initials is a good idea. She's kind of relentless so I have a feeling if I tell her no, she's just gonna keep hounding me.
Isnshe dead set on giving it to you before baby is born? If she HAS to get it monogrammed, maybe she can wait until after the baby is born no give it to you a couple days later.
pippacricket I'm super awkward in those situations so I'd probably tell her that whatever she picks is great and then just not use the bumper. I definitely agree that it's totally your right to not tell her the name....so maybe reiterate that you're not sharing but that you can get it monogrammed after the birth or something?

Yea, none of our first or second tri blood work was covered. The NT scan was covered but not the blood work done in association with it.
As far as I can see the 1 hour glucose was covered, so I have hopes the 3 hour will be as well. It's just this one scan.
My stomach is aching soooooo much right now...like stretching aching.
Also, my LO dove off the top of our stairs today...5 wood steps and landed on her head. It was the most terrifying moment of my life. Fortunately she is okay...took her to the doctor to get checked out...aside from a shiner and a huge knot on her head. I still don't think I've caught my breath after that happened....and I doubt I'll be sleeping well tonight.

I have days when my stomach feels like that too. Today being one of them. Doesn't seem to be every day at least.

pippacricket - Have you tried Googling the sheets so you could see them first?
For the bumpers I'd just tell her you don't plan on using bumpers in the crib.
And if you give her any of the name, I'd say go with initials. That's all she needs to get something monogrammed. And that way you're still keeping the name secret.
ETA: After seeing your post about her being nosy in your post on Pregnancy, I change my vote to not even telling her initials. She can wait like everyone else!!
pippacricket I guess I would go the route of being incredibly thankful to her that she is buying the sheets and then voicing your preferences. It sounds like you don't want a bumper (we don't have one either). If you have a strong feeling about the blanket then just tell her. Otherwise say she can pick what she likes. I also think she can wait on the name and needs to be respectful of that. You can always say that you'd prefer the blanket not to be monogrammed so you can use it for future children too.
