I am 7w+2 today. I had a great first ultrasound, and have been thinking of driving up to babies r us to test out a few car seats in DWs small car, and otherwise just browse. I want to see several items I've been researching in person, and the selection is so much bigger than target. Is it too soon to even been looking or researching these things? I'm thinking I'm jinxing myself by looking at stuff, but I have NO baby items, and haven't researched much at all until a few weeks ago. I may also buy a little onesie to celebrate the great ultrasound, and heartbeat, should I hold off? Would you? Did you?

I've been researching baby items since I was a teen lol. However, I did not purchase anything for baby until after I was 20 weeks. I don't like clutter and I wanted to be sure he would stick. I had several losses before this guy and I definitely wouldn't want baby stuff hanging around taunting me. It's a really personal decision though. Some people announce their pregnancies and start registries, purchases before the stick even dries. While its not what I would do, no sense in judging someone that does. There are still members of my family who have no clue I'm pregnant. Im due in a month. *shrugs* It's really about whatever you are comfortable with.
ETA: If you do decide to make early purchases, hold off on the car seat. You want to get the most use out of it before it expires.

rikkiandjulie We bought a onesie to celebrate at about five weeks and then started picking things up around 12 weeks, especially if I found them on sale.
You do what feels right for you. There's no jinxing it. I know too many sad stories; pregnant and parenting, that have taught me to live in the moment with our kids. Your baby has been longed for and loved before you even saw that heartbeat so of course you want to prepare for their arrival. Have fun buying stuff and it makes you anxious then wait. There's really no magic date on the calander that'll make you at ease.
Absolutely go browse at the store. I don't remember when we started buying stuff but we had wandered Target and Buy Buy Baby for years before we got pregnant. Maybe starting a registry on Amazon might be a good middle ground if you didn't want to purchase yet but still get organized. Enjoy this time and if shopping makes you happy go for it!

Well we went! We browsed and browsed, found some things we were debating to put on our Amazon registry, and tried two car seats in our car, we decided on the Chicco Key Fit 30 Zip. It just fit better, it was that or the Britax, and I wasn't impressed at all with that.
I did buy a picture frame for an ultrasound it say 1st trimester, second, trimester, 3rd trimester. It's really cute, so I bought that and will Hang it in the nursery probably.
We bought a bunch of non gender spacific things a few weeks into our first pregnancy at a big second hand sale they have here twice a year. I even went out and bough a stroller and car seat combo later in the pregnancy when we already knew there was a 99% chance we would lose her, but I kind of bought it for the next baby as I didn't think she would get to use it. There are days when I see it hidden away in the basement and I kind of regret my stroller purchase, but that's only because I didn't think it would take this long to get pregnant again. I don't want the car seat to expire before we get to use it!
My friend isn't even planning to stay trying for a baby for another year and she bought something the other day.... So there is no right or wrong answer.
