Hey all!
Looking for those who have babies and animals!
We are going to have to baby gate upstairs, downstairs and the stairs leading to the basement. The issue we have is we have a cat who does his business in the basement and sleeps\hangs out on our second level. So we need baby gates that the cat is able to squeeze through.
Anyone have any recommendations on gates that worked well for them? Bonus points if you know that your cat can fit through them!
This looks good. I'm a little weary of the cat jumping over the gate of he is heading down the stairs.. Though knowing him he would have no issues. Thank you again
I know there are gates made with little cat doors in them. That should work for your basement door. For the top of the stairs make sure you get one that is designed for top of stairs. It'll have either a short bar across the bottom or no bar. That way it's not a tripping hazard. We started with wood gates (cheap DH) but as DD1 got older and stronger/smarter she knew how to kinda break them enough to get around them. I would start with metal, it'll save some money.
We have this one. I love it. Big kids even knocked it down some kind of fierce and a friend bent it back and it still works great.
Pro: I like that it is pressure mounted and doesn't have to screw into the wall. Con: I don't like that it has the bottom bar all the way across the bottom to sit on the floor because where we need it, the molding prevents us from putting it all the way down to the floor, we have to put it right above the bottom molding so it has a slight step up you have to do. It's been ok for us though, the 2 yo hasn't had any issues with it being off the ground an inch or so.
