Adding this to remind myself that even though I feel ready to have these babies, they are not ready yet and I still have a milestone to aim for before I can safely try to get things going.
Post here if you are 37 weeks with a singleton or 36 weeks with twins!

I thought full term was now considered 39 weeks? I hit 37 weeks yesterday. DH and I realized we should probably begin to pack a hospital bag just in case!
I think they keep changing the term definition. I thought it was later than 37 weeks, but there was a recent article that stated the best outcomes was a baby born at 39 weeks so who knows?
The new definitions as of a few years ago state that 37w0d-38w6d is now early term. Still "term" but not full term. Full term is now believed to start at 39w0d. Either way, it's exciting to make it to 37!! I'm 37w1d today
Wow! Some of us still haven't hit 35 weeks. Thanks.
ETA. Just realized I hit 35 weeks today. Still plenty of us have s LONG way to go.
LOL I haven't hit 35 weeks either and I'm the one that started this thread... but I needed a reminder not to wish for labor quite yet.
As of a year ago when I got my nursing degree, 37 weeks was considered term (36 weeks for twins). Maybe they are now adding an early and late term distinction, I don't know.
I think the early-term and late-term distinction was specifically to discourage all these elective inductions at 37 weeks or 38 weeks that weren't medically necessary. It does not mean that the baby is not ready or that you should feel guilty about wanting the baby to be born ASAP!
Hehe congrats all y'all getting so close! I just hit 34 weeks yesterday... I still don't feel like I will hit full "full term" with this one. SO was like, you go into labor when you walk around too much! I explained that there is plenty of room for unproductive fake starts... but deep down, I kind of agree with him.

Let's start meeting our newest additions soon!
I don't think any amount of walking will bring on labor if a body isn't ready. I spent tons of time walking after 39 weeks with DD1 and no progress was made. We did an induction at 40w3d and even all the meds didn't get my cervix moving.

Lol I walked around Disneyland at 39weeks hoping to get things started. While it caused uncomfortable contractions, they stopped as soon as I stopped walking :/
I've spent a lot of time reading about the cascade of events they believe start labor. The overwhelming theory is that the baby decides - not our bodies. I read that in one instance, when the baby's lung are mature enough they start secreting a protein that goes to the uterine wall and tells cells there the lungs are ready. It's just one indicator that things can get started.
It was fascinating. Understanding why labor starts would be invaluable to better induction experiences for women who need them.

That's so funny you should mention the protein secreted when baby's lungs are mature enough - my OB was just telling us about that at my 34w appointment!
If we're talking 37w, I go here now!! Based on the birthing & labor class we took the other night, they mentioned "early term" being anything before 37w, "term" is 37w-38w6d, "full term" as 39w-41w6d and 42w+ as "late term." But wherever we are, I agree w/ PPs that it's exciting how close we all are getting!!

37 weeks today! Early term. Full term. Whatever. I'm exhausted. Now that I'm back from a conference I went to this weekend, he can feel free to come at any time (but I'm fully expecting another couple weeks).
