I want a new car! A Mazda CX-5. The convertible car seat barely fits in the middle as it is. Nobody could drive once we have to move it to an outboard position!

I really want a ring sling and a lillebaby! Also a new crib and car seat. We're debating the double stroller too.
And to add to the car talk- I'm probably one of the few 22 year olds that drives a minivan on purpose lol but we love our Honda Odyssey! We bought it right before my 21st birthday last year.
obi I drive a Ford Edge and I have found it to be super roomy for carseats. I'll be using it as my primary vehicle with 3 across.
But of course a new car is always fun!
britab I had a similar age gap with my first 2 and I got by with a single until recently. Your big can walk or get a boogie board to attach to your single. You mentioned an Ergo. Between babywearing and the big walking we were fine.
I just got a double knowing we would have 3 sooner than later and I was doing StrollerStrides and it is not easy working out with a baby strapped to you!
And for pumping bra, not sure what it being adjustable means, but buy a cheap Walmart nursing bra and cut holes in it! Spend what you save on something fun.
Add me to the big boob club. Sitting over here at a 32GG. @amc25 want to link the measurement site pretty please? I could use a remeasure.
danvers like 3 seats? I don't think I follow. The Graco Ready2 Grow plus a boogie board? I have a City Select and will add a boogie board, but it doesn't have a "sit" that is not a seat.
And I just want to say how f-ing excited I am to live vicariously through you all shopping. I am so excited for all of us to start buying things!
I have an adjustable strapless pumping bra. It has Velcro so you can adjust the band width. It was $30, so well worth not having to completely undress at work to put on a bra with straps.
DD has decided "arms falling off" when walking like a block and then she needs to be carried or in a stroller, so we'll if she keeps it up.
I've already accepted the fact that I'll be that FTM buying all the things
Girl. All that shit they tell you that you need? You don't. Bumbo? Used it twice. RnP? Never had one. Pack n Play? Didn't have that either. Nursing cover? What a pain in the ass. If you 'need' it, buy it used. You'll be surprised at how much space all that shit you never use takes up.
Love my rock n play, nursing cover and still use the pack n play all the time. We can go to friends' houses and put DD down, so we can stay out past 7 or go on trips.
To each his own. We garage sale and a lot of friends gave us stuff.

I swear by my co-sleeper, if anyone is in need of one.
I want to get a stroller, probably getting the city select double.
I would like a new ring sling for the babe, a new diaper bag of some sort. I kind of want a swing for LO2. We have a mamaroo, but DS didn't like it so I might go garage saleing and see if I can find a swing.

I Loooove my lillebaby carrier and have a woven wrap I didn't use as much but love the print so I'll be converting it into a ring sling soon.
So w DS all the big items were gifted, I think we bought the pack n play only but the crib dresser car seat swing etc were gifts. All this to say it's why I splurged on my mountain buggy plus one stroller. I love to run and be out and about all day so this was nice since it converts into a double.
Im a bit obsessed with strollers and have a cheap urbini I found on Craigslist as my small stroller and am thinking of looking for a used side by side mountain buggy. All of my running friends love the Bob both single and double. They are ridiculous how they turn on a dime!! You can find great owns used as they are real sturdy.
I started looking at double strollers a few months ago with my last pg. I love my single bob so much that I returned my city mini gt. It does take up a considerable amount of space, but it is so nice and with my third row down (for now) I'm ok with it. So I'm debating the bob duallie, city mini gt double, or city select. If anyone has tried one and loves them let me know. I realize it's early, but I'd love to start looking for a good used one or the sales they put on the current models here in a few months.

Big +1 to most of this. We did use a pack n play. I will also add a Boppy to the useless list. I never figured out how to bf with that thing.

I have a City Select and LOVE it! I didn't care for side by side doubles. I got mine at a consignment shop for about 1/2 the retail price. Any specific questions let me know.
Thank you! That is why that one has been on my list. I'm terrified of having to navigate a side-by-side.
Whoa @amc25 a five cup increase!? Either congratulations or condolences are in order; I'm not sure. But either way I agree that maternity bras are of no use now. I loved all my nursing tanks and my medela sleep bra for those first several months though!
But oh man! honda13 I would not live without my Boppy! I have tried to nurse without it and DD points to it like uhh missing something! This is why being a FTM is so confusing! All these conflicting experiences.

I also did not use a boppy. But then I was rarely at home. I went stir crazy.

I agree with that. What works for one doesn't always work for another. Maybe the best advice is to save the receipt in case you want to return it.

Before this thread I thought the boppy was meant to kind of prop the baby up while it sits on the sofa or floor #noob
It can be used for this, but it's main purpose is for breastfeeding. So you were right

I agree with honda13. Everyone has things that work for them that other people see as a waste. Just save the receipts and you can always return. I just taped mine to the boxes and if it wasn't being used in an appropriate time frame I took it back. Worst case scenario is store credit if it's been too long and I just used it to buy diapers and wipes or other needed things.

...or wait until you actually need it before buying it. That's how we approached it last time and we purchased remarkably little.

So much this. My BFF had her baby five days after me, and the differences in preferences between our two kids is crazy. At the end of the day, make sure you have somewhere for the baby to sleep, and some kind of plan in place for the baby to eat. Some clothing and diapers are good, but past that, you'll probably just figure things out based on your actual baby. If/when you go to register for a shower or something, stick to just one or two stores that have good return policies, and they were pretty flexible with us returning duplicates/things we wound up not needing.

Did you do a shower/registry? I'm just thinking that most people register for this kind of stuff.
Yes, but we don't come from an affluent family. We don't spend $100 on gifts. We got a lot of clothes and not a lot of larger items. I also didn't have a job thanks to a fucky situation so we couldn't just go out and buy all kinds of stuff we didn't really need. And we realized that we use the rocker, the crib, the swing, some swaddles, and that was pretty much it. A car seat. When you have little, you realize just how little you actually need.

I'm sorry about the job situation that sounds like it was shitty. Yes, there is not a lot that you need for baby. A lot of stuff on the market is not a necessity.

It depends, if you're gonna run w the stroller and do a lot of outdoor activities id go w the Bob duellie. It's amazing!! But huge! If you're looking for a walking stroller or indoor then I'd go w the others.
You gotta check out the mountain buggy duet it's the slimmest side by side and I've seen so many used for a great price!! It's great for running and everyday due to its size

I mean it's fine now, but losing your job at 8 months pregnant is not the most awesome experience. And now I'm in the best job I could imagine at a great company. My point was just to not get wrapped up in all the shit that you 'need.' Because I promise, you don't. They're convenience items, and not all of them are even that convenient. Like the nursing cover. Use a blanket if you need a cover. Or nothing at all lol.

Sounds like things worked out for the best I agree there is not a lot of shit you 'need'. I apologize if my post came off as insensitive in any way.

Not at all. I just hate it when people make it sound like you need 40,000 things to have a kid and keep them healthy and happy. You're enough. I promise. 'Things' don't make or break a kid. Now

Thanks daisylola11. I will definitely check those out. We do a lot of outside time walking and jogging which is why I ended up just keeping the bob and getting rid of the other stroller. I'll have to see of they will let me take them to my car to see which one fits the best. After having 3 strollers with my oldest I really like to only have one now that has multiple purposes.
ugaqueencity we have an uppababy vista and love it. We got it used on Craigslist for 1/3 of the cost and it was only one year old at the time. We bought the 2nd seat about a year ago when we saw a deal on it. Amazon usually stocks those a couple of years out so you probably don't need to get it right away.

I keep wondering if we'll use/want a stroller or not. We live in the city, and they just seem like a big inconvenience on the bus or metro, navigating the streets (and construction zones), and most restaurants don't have space for them anywhere. One of my friends has gotten by with baby wearing and an umbrella stroller for her son, but she's the only mom I know who didn't buy a stroller. It also ties into infant seat vs. convertible, it seems like. Just something I'm thinking about now.
