esquette are you in United States? I thought nitrous oxide was a Canadian and UK thing so I'm curious if it will trend here
I'm in the US (CO) and the hospital I'm using this time offers nitrous I know of another one in MA that offers it too. I think it's slowly becoming more commonplace. Edit- thought of another one- a friend in Nashville had it at her hospital too.
Also are you planning on a natural birth is not appropriate work conversation. I'm planning on having a baby. Would I like to do it without a c-section and drugs? Yes. Do I feel the need to explain why to you? No.
I'm pretty sure that BRU customer service thinks I'm crazy. I just had to call back because they have made three mistakes in shipping me a baby onesie. I was nice about it, but seriously how hard is it to ship a onesie? I really wanted it for in the hospital. Luckily this baby seems quite content to stay put, so it still might arrive in time.
We've been trying to work on our boy name. We came up with a few possibilities and I googled them and they are all pro athletes. I don't want to use the same name as a famous person, so I was initially going to rule them out, but we're having such a hard time agreeing on names I'm starting to consider using one of them anyway. Not all pro athletes are actually famous, right? And DH shares a name with two pro athletes and FIL has the same name as an actress and it hasn't been a big deal. Ugh, names are hard.

Names are sooo hard!! Especially boy names. If you two like the name and can agree on it I say go for it haha at this point the minute I get DH to agree to a name we are done haha. (He still doesn't like any I do)

I know maybe a handful of pro athletes' names. Most of those are the superstars that are well-ingrained into pop culture -- Michael Jordan, Mia Hamm, Brett Farve, etc.
Unless you're around sports nuts on a regular basis, I wouldn't worry a single second on sharing a name with a pro athlete. :)

I just put DD1 back in a diaper. The past few days she hasn't had accidents where she lets a little out because I haven't taken her quickly enough. Nope, I take her to the potty, she does nothing, and 5minutes later she fully lets go of her bladder, then tells me she made a mess. No reason to not use diapers when I'm having to wash her clothes just like a diaper, and clean furniture, sheets, floor. She's not happy, maybe it will work.

I read that if you put kids back in diapers/pull-ups, most are fully re-trained within a month.
DH just asked for the OK to enter a golf tournament a week after #2 is supposed to arrive. Ahh to be a man. I told him it was fine as long as he would leave if I need him due to being in labor or if #2 is high needs.

We just had our final growth ultrasound (everything is great!). The tech couldn't get any good pictures because her hands were in front of her face, but then handed H one singular printout and said "well, here's her little labia!" Um, ok.

Hey ladies! Had another busy workday so just catching up now.
No labor watch for me. Baby finally started moving around a bit more last night, so I didn't end up calling my hospital, and he's been super active today so I'm breathing a little easier. 38 weeks tomorrow and an OB appointment in the afternoon, so I'm super curious to find out what's going on with my cervix! Also, I realized that I can't find the piece of paper I had with the off-hours number to call. I can't remember if I am just supposed to call the hospital then or if that number is for my doctor's practice. Should probably get another copy of that...
Ooh - I FINALLY talked to my boss about when my last day would be. Next Friday! Well, that is officially my last in-office day, but I'm retaining the right to continue working from home after that until whenever I need to stop (EDD is 6 days after that). With WFH tomorrow and next Thursday already planned, it's crazy and awesome to know that I only have five more days left in the office!
Knowing that there is an end in sight work-wise is making me a little less impatient for baby to make an appearance, so that's an added bonus.
The hospital I'll be delivering at (UCSF) has nitrous oxide and says they are one of the few that uses it so I'm not sure how many use it already. My local hospital for DD certainly did not have the option. As I'm inducing again, I imagine I probably will get epidural again.
My question now is...the induction is scheduled for 8 PM. I definitely want to eat dinner before we go in, but if I get an epidural and can't walk around to go #2, am I just going to make a HUGE poopy mess for the nurses while I'm pushing? And...would it be better for me to not be starving or to not embarrass myself? I know poop is normal, but I don't know about a full meal's worth...
That's a good question shanny! The fact that we'd be numb from below the boobs on down makes me waver back and forth on weather to do epi...but I don't want to be in pain either
shanny I can guarantee the nurses/midwives/doctors will give so few fucks about if or what volume you poop. Be comfy, it could be a long ride and you'll need the energy. :)

Lolz forever - that's a scrapbook pic for sure
I'll save it for future embarrassment. My mom watched DS while we went, and the first thing she said was "did you get a good picture?" Haha well kind of...

If you get the epi, in my experience, they won't even mention it unless you ask (maybe not even then) and you're too numb/preoccupied to care. They'll probably clean you up from all the birthing grossness, so they'd just add that to the routine. :)
If you can wait a bit it might not be a huge issue. I'd eat. Labor is hard work. I totally had DH sneaking me food last time. There is no way I could have survived 30plus hours with just ice chips.

I would probably eat, do you know what they are planning to use for induction?

Another vote for eating. I can't imagine there being a scenario in which I would vote against eating though...
But seriously, this is NOT the time to make choices for yourself/your body based on other's comfort (or what you assume as far as the the nurse's comfort/preferences). Do whatever you can do to be ready for labor, and IMO that means food, because food = energy!
