What type of animal: Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix

Boy/Girl: Girl

Name: Eva

Nickname: Diva

Story behind how you became their human: She was thrown out of a car onto a busy street in front of our house. Our neighbor saw and rescued her. We adopted her about 10 days later.

Any special needs: She has had to have knee surgery (genetic condition) and she had a concussion after being thrown from the car.

Something embarrassing that they do: She eats my underwear! Just the crotch part. So gross.

Name: Opie & Everett (well, his full name is Ulysses Everett McGill, but goes by Everett)

Nickname: Opert, Ope & Ev, Everito Burrito. Both also get called doge or doog.

Story behind how you became their human: We adopted Opie thinking he was about 3 years old. He was closer to 10. Everett is a mutt puppy from a clandestine romance between a breeding cocker spaniel and...something else.

Any special needs: Opie is old, blind, has bad knees so sometimes he falls over while he poops and you have to hold him. He also has a tumor on the roof of his mouth. Everett is just an idiot, no real special needs.

Something embarrassing that they do: Opie pees if a stranger pets him. Inside, outside, wherever. But if you sit, he will get in your lap... so everyone is scary unless they are sitting.

I shared one of our dogs on the other thread so here's number two.
He's a chihuahua named Pedro
We got him in 2009 as a puppy.
He's the most docile creature on earth. He has so much patience for the kids and even let the girls push him around in a baby carriage when they were smaller.
He's also an underwear eater...weirdo.
This is him today trying to handle this heat. The girls just took them both in the pool.

Story behind how you became their human: Bailey I got as a college graduation gift, she is a beagle and is true to their low intelligence, stubborn streak and drive for food. She is a pain in my ass but she was my first baby

Penelope we got from a coworker of H's whose farm dog got knocked up. She is way bigger than we thought she would be (100lbs) but acts like she is a little lap dog

Black Cat we got from an old neighbor as a kitten. I dont like cats but H was smitten so I conceded
Any special needs: Bailey has incontinence and has to be on meds for the rest of her life to control it. They will end up killing her but could not have a dog dripping pee everywhere

Something embarrassing that they do: Penelope farts all.the.time and they are so strong and disgusting. Its always embarrassing when we have company over.
Bailey is a first class food thief and eats anything. She has stolen a bag of potatoes and taken a bite out of each one, steals poop diapers and eats them and will get up on the table after dinner if we leave food there

Name: Jill/Jilly

Nickname: Boo Boo, dog dog (we have a thing for repeating sounds, and decided that "dog" would be easier to say for DS than "Jilly" so now he calls her "dog dog"

Story behind how you became their human: I adopted her when I was single in 2008 as a puppy from a local rescue. She was apparently abandoned after a puppy mill couldn't sell her fast enough to a pet store.

Any special needs: She has had several bouts of pancreatitis, which have led to three hospitalizations for her, so super restricted diet now. She's also a relatively anxious dog, though luckily, so far is great with the little one.

Something embarrassing that they do: She is also in the underwear licking club - I try to keep my closet door shut now.

Obligatory adorable picture: I dug through Facebook for a better one! This is from way back doing our engagement photos, we had to have her with us, and our photographer got a couple great ones of just her as well!

Okay, so we have Penny and Walter, affectionately known as Penny-poo and Walter-woo. Not so affectionately known as "goddammit!"
Penny is a peekapoo. Three years ago, our dog, Oscar, who we had through college, suddenly died. H was heartbroken. I tease him now because he always said that he would never have another dog after Oscar because he was such an asshole, but now he gets all weepy talking about him. Anyway, a week after he died, I caught H looking all mopey at his phone. When I asked him what was wrong, she showed me the googly-eyed she-beast that he had fallen in love with.

I already talked about her other specialness, but another thing that she "needs" is for her head to be propped while she's sleeping. Otherwise she can't breathe.
Walter is a peekatzu. We got him 3 months after Penny because she "needed" a friend. H always compares him to Oscar (he was a shih tzu), but Walter is actually way easier. And he's Jude's BFF.

Story behind how you became their human:
The turtle I bought my sophomore year in college.  The clerk made a point of showing  me the store's pet turtle who was 35 years old, 16 inches long, and living in a 300 gallon pond in the store.  I was undeterred. (Mine is 21 years old, 10 inches long and lives in a 75 gallon tank.)  The cat we got at a shelter as soon as DH and I moved in together.


Any special needs:
I've had to give the turtle regular shots in the past.  It takes three people. Not easy.


Something embarrassing that they do:
The cat jumps on the kitchen table every time company is over. I've never seen her jump on it any other time.

Story behind how you became their human:
We bought Boatey from a 'breeder' 6 years ago, although I'm pretty sure it was a puppy mill now.....H is allergic to dogs and cats and poodle mixes are supposed to be hypoallergenic. I can report that they are.
Judd used to be my moms dog, who we kept when she moved to Alaska. He's about 11yo.

Any special needs:
Boatey has some sort of neurological/nervous disorder that makes him have repetitive motions and flysnapping. The vet thinks it Little white dog syndrome?
He also will only eat out of porcelain or glass dishes and has to have his water refreshed throughout the day, preferably with ice.
Judd is a tank.

Something embarrassing that they do:
Boatey humps Judd Lee....they are both fixed but something works. Judd Lees farts can clear out a damn room.

Types: 2 dogs 2 cats

All girls

Names: Roxy, Clover, Sophie and Gracie
NNs: Roxy: Rox, Alligator, Princess Roxy
Clover: Clo, Clovey

Roxy was return 3 times to someone who was trying to breed Huskies(she's a husky beagle mix) so we took her and never looked back.
Clover was at the shelter, someone left her at a 711 and they were feeding her hotdogs for 4 days.
Sophie: She was at an Ice Cream shop and loved all the patrons. The people who worked there wanted her gone so I took her. We found out a week later she was pregnant.
Gracie: Sophie's kitten born ten days after J.
Special Needs: Roxy has severe separation anxiety and can't be left alone. It's been better ever since we got Clover though.
Embarrassing: Clo jumps on everyone and while on walks if she even sees another person she lays down and rolls over to have her tummy pet.

Story behind how you became their human: I wanted a puppy, DH didn't. So I asked for a baby... We compromised. When I went to pick one, his brothers were jumping all over me and barking, and he was cuddled at the back of his crate sleeping. He's still just as lazy 4 years later.

Any special needs: He needs to sit on every jacket/blanket/article of clothing that ends up on the floor. Haha.

Something embarrassing that they do: He has a stuffed bunny that he drags out and humps every time we have company. ONLY when we have company!

Story behind how you became their human: We got a bunny when we first started dating. So after we got married and wanted to get a dog we knew that we needed to get a puppy so that the dog would not eat said bunny. We put our names on some breed specific rescues, but after 2 years of waiting we decided to start looking at breeders. We had one lined up and then we both lost our jobs so we had to pass on the dog. About 8 months late I came home from work and MH turned to me and said i have an early birthday present for you. Bday is in April this was end of February/Early March. He was looking at the computer and said which one do you want? There on the screen were 4 adorable male puppies. We placed the deposit that night and 8 weeks later we were picking him up!

Any special needs: He has a stuffed dinosaur that he has to sleep with, along with one of the baby blankets that Rebecca was wrapped in her first few hours of life. Problem with the stuffed dinosaur is that he has gone through like 8 of them in the past 3.5 years. Target stopped selling them for a long time and we had to do some major surgery on to recover. He currently has 3 of them one on each floor of the house and will greet you at the door with him.

Something embarrassing that they do: Jump on everyone no matter how much we train and work with him not to do it.

Name: Carl

Nickname: Ca-roo, Puppy Wuppy, Core-rule

Story behind how you became their human: We decided to get an English bulldog and knew we had to find a reputable breeder since they are literally the least healthy breed of dog. So H took on the task of searching for breeders and found one in Kentucky. We put a deposit on a male puppy in an upcoming litter and then didn't like his markings. Yep..we were those people. We agreed that if we were paying as much as we were that we'd want a dog that we liked the markings of? It sounds terrible but don't worry. Our bffs bought the dog that was going to be Carl and he is Carl's bff. Carl was from an earlier litter and no one had claimed him yet so we did. I drove with my BFF and her H to pick up our puppies. We met the breeders halfway at a McDonald's in West Virginia. My avatar is from when I got him.
If we ever get another one we will use the same breeder. We both randomly look through their website at new puppies. Not now....but eventually we will get another one and name him Arthur.

Any special needs: His folds have to be cleaned almost daily, he gets yeast infections in his feet and face folds, he can only have his food that comes specifically from the vet or else his butt needs wiped when he poops. He's a bulldog so if he's outside when it's too hot (above 80) he could easily have about heat stroke.

Something embarrassing that they do: humps a soccer ball every where, snorts in people's faces when he's excited, paws at people and gouges them with his nails.

Story behind how you became their human: She was at our shelter and was just so sad. I sat down against the wall in her kennel and she came over and dropped a little snoopy doll dressed as a jack-o-lantern in my lap and laid down against me. It seemed like fate: My husband and I are both huge Halloween fans and this happened in May and DH also loves Charlie Brown.

Any special needs: Twice daily medication to stop urinary incontinence caused by her spay.

Something embarrassing that they do: She's not at all friendly with strangers, growls and barks.
