Well... Just woke up from an unplanned 2.5 hour nap. Which is awesome. Except I was supposed to pick DD up right NOW (as in be at her school and have her in the car already) to make it to her gym class on time. She's going to be so sad about missing it b
Goodness I've been MIA. First daycare interview is tomorrow so I've been going nuts to prepare. Still not ready.
Hello and love to you all. I have no idea what is going on.
Anyway, story/question:
Baby I had his two month vaccines yesterday. I was away at one of my certification classes and MH and MIL were hanging out with I when suddenly they said he was burning up and screaming uncontrollably and they said one of his entire thighs was red and really swollen. Of course I couldn't concentrate on class at all. But they handled it, bought a thermometer (since we are rookies and left ours home) and Tylenol and he was fine after that. I realize this is in the realm of normalcy but it still sucked being away from I when he was sick. And what did my MIL say as soon as I picked him up? "I hope we caught that fever because it can cause brain damage to babies!".... Blank stare.
Question time: today this kid has literally been attached to the boob for hours. Sometimes just attached but not sucking, sometimes sucking but not drinking, sometimes actually eating. Also falling asleep latched on and no matter when I try and unlatch he cries. Is this probably comfort nursing from his big day yesterday? Any other ideas? How did your kiddos react to vaccines?
snoris I think your hunch is right. That sounds like comfort nursing. I would probably call your ped and mention the reaction to the vaccination. Baby I could be sensitive to one of the ingredients.

H and MIL talked to an on call doctor from another state, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to let them know! Does this sound dramatic compared to how yours reacted? I know our doc said some kids react like this, I just didn't know how many and if it was common to have allll the reactions. FTM probs.
snoris E was super fussy and had a fever on day of and day after shots. dr said don't worry unless fever is more than 102F. She nursed for what felt like 3 days straight

My kids are badasses. They barely flinched
Seriously though, neither of my kids reacted that much. J slept most of the rest of that day and his legs were a little sore the next day. A didn't seem bothered by it much at all.
DD is eating crackers tonight. Things I can normally handle from her are driving me batty.
Sorry! Am I right in assuming it's sleeping (or lack thereof) related?
I remember you mentioning sleep being a struggle lately. Does the weaning of meds seem to be helping? Or is that adjustment what's causing the problems?
Well I got myself all freaked out by researching tummy time because I found all these sites that say to call your doctor if your lo isn't pushing himself up and holding his head up around 3 months.
DS can lift his head off the ground a little bit, but he definitely doesn't look around. Should I be doing tummy time more? Put a pillow under him to encourage him to look up? Just let him progress as he is?
When we hold Him upright he can hold his head up (although he's wobbly) and he looks around a little bit.

Last night's problems were just her being 3.5. If I wasn't also trying to deal with DS and getting better sleep, it probably wouldn't have bothered me.
But sleep has been a HUGE issue the last few weeks - and I think it may be medication related. Google tells me it probably is. I emailed her neuro to see what we can do. Last night she was up until... oh, 1 am or so. Reading books, trying on every piece of clothing she owns, etc. (She was wearing a bathing suit and tutu when she woke up today) At least she was quiet though, usually she's yelling. I gave her a sticker for sleep even because she wasn't screaming until her light turned green.
