You have a contraction, and it peaks, then starts to settle down, but then it builds back up again. So it's kind of like having 2 contractions right in a row, 4 minutes apart.
SO keeps making our baby stuff dirty... its getting frustrating..
1. the cats stole the crib for the time being and filled it with cat hair.. SO bought himself tools on fathers day and didn't open them but put them in the crib too. MIL just arrived and gave him more power tools of which he put them in the crib also.. So right now in the crib is 2 sets of power tools.. maternity pillows.. and baby blankets that are covered in cat hair.. all that he put in the crib
2. I got a changing pad for on top our dresser this weekend.. We had a plant on the dresser that the cats got it and knocked dirt all over. I wiped the dresser off and put the changing pad on, and a pad cover. By today.. the pad was covered in dirt because SO took the things that had been on the dresser but were covered in the plant dirt and I took off and put other places, and put them on the changing pad..
So I will probably get SO to clean out the crib and put on a new sheet. and put on a new changing pad when I go into labor... Maybe I should just fire the cats instead..

Rogue yeah... I'd be making him clean all of that too. Tools don't belong in the crib! Our kitty is also very interested in all things baby. We keep her bedroom door closed now otherwise there'd be due on everything. Cats are funny about finding the exact spot you dont want them to sleep!

How do I know if what I'm feeling is a contraction (BH or otherwise)? I feel something that does kind of feel like tightening, but I wonder if it's just baby stretching in weird ways.
I'm so tired today I am barely functioning. I can't tell if I'm coming down with something or if it's just normal third tri, but I've done nothing all day.
hannahbear I notice that BH is an all over tightness that causes my belly to be hard. Usually baby pushing is outwards and not all over
hannahbear I agree with this. But also have had a bunch of times where I'm not sure which thing is happening. There are some that are definitely contractions (tightening; kind of like a balloon expanding in my abdomen). This pregnancy is making me feel like a newb all over again.
I was just waking up from a late nap with DD and aside from the heartburn (hello, you're early tonight, you jerk), baby did this huuuuuuge flip roll thing. Like, felt like she went halfway over and decided to snap back up. Twice. I am hoping my sense of it was wrong and maybe she just decided it was time to go head down.

Hm. Well I still can't tell! I had a belly before pregnancy so there are some parts that are still soft! It makes it difficult to tell if the tightness is all over or not

It's difficult sometimes! I still don't know the difference all the time

hannahbear, I wasn't sure either, but they've gotten much worse the last few days and I'm finally confident that this "pain\tightness\stretching" feeling is BH. I have fluff on my belly too, so it was hard to tell. I put my fingers like rakes (or claws) and push all around. When the BH are happening, there is equal tension under the fluff Lately they keep my from straightening up and it's impossible to walk fast.
A description that helped me understand was as follows: BH are like your uterus getting as hard as a rock with nothing you can do about it, then relaxing. It feels like they are right up under your ribs and you can't breathe.

I guess what i had when DD was born would be double peak contractions. I stayed pretty drugged up because I couldn't get relief. But for some reason I am remembering that I never fully compleated a contraction. So they could come "near-ish" the bottom then go back up. But never fully come all the way down. I don't wish that on anyone. It is not fun!

That sounds like the closest thing to my crazy long contractions I've ever read about.
Today marked day 5 of a migraine. It wouldn't quit, and it stopped responding to Tylenol, so I went back in to see my doctor. I felt stupid, because I saw her two days ago. But I can't take Tylenol forever, and I can't spend the next month in my darkened room. Doc decided that we need to "break" the headache, so yay I'm taking narcotics for the next day or so! (PS - My blood pressure was 92/54 (basically suggesting that I was asleep while at the doctors office) and my urine was negative for the preeclampsia protein stuff.)
shehulk723, I'm so sorry they couldn't give you anything for the pain. Tylenol is a joke.
As for the baby, much kicking and thrashing around in there. Sometimes it hurts and I can't get comfortable. It's nice to know he's okay, but those kicks aren't nearly as cute and precious as they used to be!
Also, for whoever asked, I'm sitting on my couch a lot right now: teacher on summer vacation. Assuming no baby yet, I'll work for a few days at the beginning of the year but before my due date. We'll see how things go. I plan to largely sit at my desk and make phone calls/ work on spreadsheets.

hannahbear, my BH started like that? Felt like baby was flipping and dping summersaullts inside. When i was in the hospital i had that feeling and the CTG showed a contraction, ao thats how i knew that it was one. Now that there is less room and time moves on, the feeling is almost the same but more uncomfortable. So it has changed some. My guess it that what you are feeling is BH..i wouldn't have known the difference if i hadn't had the contraction while i was hooked up to the machine.
dc2london, that sounds awful! One of these days ot will ne a real one, hopefully sooner rather then later for you!
Rogue, i would be so mad! I think i heard that if you put tin foil over the mattress in the crib, the cats will stay out. They will jump in it once or so and get freaked out by it and shouldn't go in it again. Unfortunately i have no tips about YH!

What did they give you, esquette? I'm so sorry. My OB let me take excedrin until 36 weeks but after that she said I was on my own. My neurologist was worse and didn't even want me to take Excedrin, but offered a crap alternative (bitch, please).
I'm fearing the next 4-5 weeks. I feel you on the migraine pain - it's awful. Breaking the cycle really is the best choice.
esquette, so sorry about the migraine. They are the absolute worst. They give me fioricet and that with sleep definitely helps a bit. Hopefully whatever they give you knocks it out! I've gotten lucky over the past few weeks (I'm totally jinxing in now) but I still can't wait until I can start my preventative again.
I still can't wait until I can start my preventative again.
I'm counting the seconds to this, too.
Unfortunately, mine is excreted in breast milk so I have some time before I can get that one back. But Imitrex? Neurologist okayed that one!
Mine is too so I'm going to have to find out if I'll be able to take it or not. I know that studies found no side effects in infants while breastfeeding, and the dosage I'm on is lower than tested in studies (studies were done on moms taking it for epilepsy- while requires a much higher dosage than for migraines). If I can't I'll probably BF and pump to stock the freezer and quit asap. I feel guilty about thinking like that, but I think I'd be better off doing that than being a super moody mama.
