I'm gonna answer my own questions...
I'm going to opt to do it at a private place it's $40 for pictures, videos and the gender reveal at 14 weeks since my H wants to be there. This place will do it as early as 13 weeks!
I did it with my DS around 16 weeks I think.
Eta: I was so surprised w my sons and just how much we could see, he was kicking like crazy and you could see little hands and feet
I did it with DD, I was 15w + change, if I remember correctly. It was fun and she was correct in saying we were having a girl (although I was skeptical until our 20w scan). I'm not sure we will spend the $ this time though. It's not that long between when you can tell sex on an u/s and the anatomy scan (even though it feels like forever haha), and it wasn't cheap ($200+/-?). This time I think we'll just wait for 20w and save the $. But being baby #1 it was fun to do! If it was cheaper I'd be much more likely to do it again!

kaits8 it's called baby connection here! Yup $40!!! I think they have more expensive packages but thats for the 4D ultrasound and if you want some teddy bear or something lol
I'm not going to do an early one if it's not covered by our government health care. I still have sticker shock from what I bought today. Need to save all my pennies where I can.

We did genetic testing with DS because we were able to get it really cheap, so we did it for the peace of mind knowing he was healthy, but I liked the fringe benefit of finding out he was a boy early on.
We switched doctors just after that, so no clue what his practice does as far as genetic screening. If it's inexpensive, we will probably do that again. If not, I don't see myself doing an ultrasound just to find out the sex early. But then, ask me again at 14/15/16 weeks if I don't already know
I was team green last time and team green again this time so no early reveal ultrasounds for me. @priss08, I had a lot of fun with the Chinese chart and old wives tales with DS. More of the old wives tales suggested boy and were correct but obviously others and the Chinese predictor were wrong as they said girl. This time it says girl again so we'll see!
We are team green again- and we're doing the genetic testing (I think at 10 weeks?) but will have them keep the sex a secret! With DD, I'm not sure if we conceived 2/28 or 3/1, and it made a difference on the Chinese calendar. So idk if it was accurate! This time says boy- but my last pregnancy also said boy and it was wrong. I hope it's wrong again

I would be hesitant to go to a boutique ultrasound place. The people doing them are not trained in the same way a medical tech is and God forbid something was wrong, I would want to be in a doctor's office. Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer. Also, there are articles floating around about the levels of exposure you get that could be potentially harmful. However, I'm high risk and I got ultrasounds nearly every week for 8 weeks so I take the info with a grain n of salt.
Depending on cost, I want to do the genetic testing at 12 weeks if my office allows it for the health information. I would love to find out the sex then if we do it. Otherwise, waiting until A/S
We are going team green on this baby, but last time we found out at the 20 week ultrasound. From what I have heard, an ultrasound to tell the baby's sex is not really reliable until like 18 weeks, and before then, it's almost as good as flipping a coin to tell. I mean they pretty much have a 50% chance of getting it right, lol. I also know someone who was told the wrong thing at an early ultrasound.

Ugh so much this. If I got an elective ultrasound last time...it would have been awful not being with a doctor who could explain what was happening.
I'm not too worried about the exposure to the ultrasound, just that something might go wrong
I'm hoping to do some tests to rule out chromosomal abnormalities - I think it's the panorama test? I think it can be done at 9 weeks. Anyway, it will tell the sex of the baby too, so we will probably find out then if my doctor is behind us doing the test.

I don't do genetic testing as I have no risk factors so my insurance won't cover it. No early ultrasound either as we are trying to save every penny so I can take 12 weeks of leave. I'm a teacher and we are going that I won't have to back until the next school year. We will find out at the anatomy scan. The Chinese prediction was right for both my son and daughter.

Also a teacher and I'm excited that my due date is right around spring break- hoping to take the rest of the school year off and have an extended maternity leave! I'm sure I'll have to take a pay cut because it will be beyond our 6 approved weeks but it hopefully won't be too much
