Hi everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend!

17w4d/ffinding out/chipmunks

No appointments until the a/s on Aug 11.

Can we talk about weight gain? My OB hasn't said anything and I am plus size to begin with, but I have gained less then a pound up to this point. I am struggling to eat on a regular basis. I'm not sure why as I feel fine and don't seem to have any food adversions. Do you think I should be concerned?

dream2be3, I'm also plus size and it took me a really long time to gain back what I lost from 1st tri (mostly aversions), but between 20 and 24 weeks, I started gaining 2 pounds a week without me changing anything. My OB fussed at me and told me to cut back on carby snacks. I haven't changed anything and now I'm gaining more like 1 pound a week. As long as your OB/MFM is happy with your gain (or lack of it), you're probably good. Remember, the babies are going to take what they need first.

Symptoms: Swelling, BH, and now acid reflux.

Rants/Raves/Questions: I miss eating full meals. I've had to cut my breakfast down by half an english muffin. I feel like I'm constantly hungry, but can only eat a few bites at a time.

QOTW: If you could go anywhere on vacation (pregnancy limitations/budget do not apply) where would you go? I love the mountains. I would love to take our puppy and show her the woods. For a couple weeks.

Week/Team/Fruit: 21 weeks/Boy/girl/Bananas

Appointments this week: Nothing until later in August

Symptoms: I am really sore and my feed/ankles get massively swollen by the end of the day.

Rants/Raves/Questions: dream2be3, I actually have the opposite problem. I'm plus size to begin with and I've gained 12 lbs. Nothing in the first trimester and then somehow I've packed on like 10 lbs. in the past 2 weeks. I was reading in my book (the name escapes me) that even overweight/obese people should gain SOME weight when pregnant with multiples, but there was no hard and fast rule about how much. I think it may have been housecarder who didn't gain much with her twins and they were born perfect.

I find that having a lot of snacks on hand and grazing throughout the day works for me. (then again, I'm not sure if I've gained too much. My doctor isn't concerned).

Probably the beaches of Thailand or the Seychelles. The flights are so long that I will likely never go in my lifetime.

dream2be3 as long as their growth is fine I wouldn't be worried about not gaining. I lost about 20 lbs during my pregnancy and another 30 after. I was so sick the first two trimesters and had no room to eat the third. My girls were born via RCS at 37 weeks at 6lbs 6 oz and 6lbs 15oz and perfect.

Thanks! I'm not holding out hope that it will stay. I'm currently surviving on whatever I can grab in between feedings which is not the healthiest. Cookies and Diet Coke for breakfast!

Week/Team/Fruit: 9w3d, dunno, strawberries?

Appointments this week: Just had my first intake appointment this morning. It was just a medical history review. I found out that the hospital got rid of its nursery though, so all babies who do not have medical problems stay in the room with the mother. WTF?!? How and when am I supposed to rest and recover from giving birth to twins (again)?

Symptoms: nausea, fatigue, food aversions, lower abdominal soreness

Rants/Raves/Questions: F'ing hospital gets rid of its nursery? What if the mother bleeds a bunch or has a really rough delivery or has some other medical problem? Who takes care of the baby then? Anyone have ideas on how I can get help taking care of newborns when our family lives hours away and only my disabled mother *might* be able to come and help (if I can keep her from drinking too much)?

Switzerland or Scottish Highlands. I want to go hide in mountains for a while and ignore the outside world.

nomnom, that sounds really weird. I assume they have a NICU if there are medical problems? Still...very odd.

Sorry I'm mobile so no tagging - but I recommend eating snacks with a lot of calories packed in and especially with protein. It will help you gain weight and stay full longer if you can't fit much food. My go-to snacks were granola bars (with plenty of protein), trail mix with nuts and seeds, and milkshakes when I wasn't feeling well but needed to get some food down. Milkshakes are high fat so they're extra helpful for gaining weight, and they don't give me much reflux. I gained 40lb over the course of the pregnancy.

nomnom a lot of hospitals are doing that now. Ask your nurses if anyone can take your babies for an hour or two so you can get some sleep. When I was in nursing school I did overnights on a maternity floor and when it wasn't busy we would occasionally take a baby or two so an exhausted mom could get some sleep. They might take pity on you since you have twins.

Week/Team/Fruit: 35w4d/purple/children's backpacks

Appointments this week: Last week my cervix was still thick and closed. Next check is on Wednesday as well as a growth scan.

Symptoms: General discomfort, especially in the heat. Groin pain and a new back/side pain. Reflux is still there but a bit better, which means the insomnia has been a little better too. Overall this week has actually been an improvement from last week, surprisingly.

Rants/Raves/Questions: Induction is scheduled for August 9 (37w5d) which is just over 2 weeks away!!!

QOTW: If you could go anywhere on vacation (pregnancy limitations/budget do not apply) where would you go? The Amazon! With my dad. Maybe not with H because he would whine too much about bugs LOL

Appointments this week: anatomy scan today

Symptoms: tired all the time and major congestion


Rants/Raves/Questions: I'm so nervous for the scan but excited to see them. I also get one at 20 weeks. I was really hoping second trimester would bring me some energy, I guess not. We ordered curtains for the nursery this weekend, nothing too exciting, just white from PBK.

QOTW: If you could go anywhere on vacation (pregnancy limitations/budget do not apply) where would you go? 2 weeks in Bora Bora with H.

bocaburger Thanks for the suggestion about asking the nurses. I hope the recovery area is staffed well so they're not already overwhelmed with their work load. Last time they were nice. Just the nursing students that brought the babies from the nursery were pushy.

requiressnacks There is a very good NICU, which is why I'm going to that hospital. And I really like my OB.

nomnom my hospital has a nursery but the babies room in with mom unless you specifically ask for them to go to the nursery. H stayed at night so I was able to get him to help some, but I was nursing so I had to be up every three hours anyway to feed them. I hope you can get some rest.

Week/Team/Fruit: 32w, 5d/mono di girls

Appointments this week: MFM Wednesday and regular OB Friday

Symptoms: started to get night sweats. They're worse right now than they were after delivery of DD1. I wake up soaked and it's so unpleasant. Can't wait until my hormones get regulated.

Rants/Raves/Questions: It's crazy to me to think about how I'll be 4 weeks "less pregnant" when I deliver the twins at 37 weeks than when I delivered DD1 at 41 weeks. But there is already more baby in there at this point than when she was born. No wonder I feel full term at almost 33 weeks.

QOTW: If you could go anywhere on vacation (pregnancy limitations/budget do not apply) where would you go? Hawaii - Maui specifically. We went for our honeymoon and I still dream of it.

Appointments this week: Thursday is my GTT and fluid check

Symptoms: I'm starting to feel really uncomfortable, especially by the evening. Sleep is questionable, depending on the night.

Rants/Raves/Questions: My weight gain has really leveled out of the past few weeks. I was pretty thin to start with so my OB wants me to gain over a pound each week until delivery. I'm having a hard time eating enough protein/calories.

Just got back from our 36 week growth scan and MFM appointment. Babies are measuring equally at 5.5 lb each. My cervix is barely a fingertip dilated and still high - the MFM said, "tell it to start doing something!"
