Good morning! I decided to call in sick to work. It's a slow work week anyway.
Yesterday at DC pick up I had another teacher mention Leo hitting girls. She actually said to work on that at home. But at home he hasn't been hitting us. And each morning at drop off I tell Leo "nice hands, no hitting". Any other suggestions?

littlelion hope you have a relaxing day. If the hitting is only happening at daycare it seems like it needs to be addressed by them. (Figure out why, try to prevent it?) Maybe you could read a book about nice hands but not sure how else you could 'work on it at home.' Maybe others will have better advice.
Off work today but going to pack like a mad woman (after I take a nap with LO this morning). Lol. We have to take mil to the airport later. And I have a phone conference at 5:00. It is driving me crazy that my house is such a mess. I like to mop my floors every other day but I haven't been able to do it in over a week because of the packing. I have just vacuumed. Hubby keeps reminding me it is only temporary. Have a good hump day!!

Ugh this is my 7th day home with B with no car. MH's hours have been crazy for this job so we really need groceries and some other things for our trip. He's going to try to take the train tomorrow so I can finish that stuff. Just trying to get through the heat today!
reginaphalange3 thanks for the tip. I may try to find a book. I did talk to his teacher this morning. Yesterday it was the late pick up teacher I talked to not his regular one. Hope you get the car soon! It's too hot to be walking around everywhere. babyw15 you'll be moved and unpacking before you know it!
littlelion lo has been hitting too, but it's mostly been just me on the receiving end (except for one random girl at the library. I was mortified.) He seems to want to hit when either he doesn't get his way or when people get in his space too much so if I see him getting upset I tell him to move away or turn around, etc. We got the book "Little Dinos Don't Hit" and talk a lot about what hands are used for. Maybe ask how they're addressing it at DC so you can follow up? babyw15 will you come do my house next? Lol I try to sweep the kitchen every day, but vacuuming only happens once a week. reginaphalange3 that's frustrating being stuck at home, especially when it's crazy hot out. Hope you can find something fun to do at home! ourcrazynavylife loved the pictures you posted. I'm glad they're fixing their mistakes.
Night 1 with no pacifier was a success! We'll see how naptime goes in a little bit. Ran some errands with lo this morning. I was going to take him to the park after, but it was just too hot already.

ourcrazynavylife ah bummer, that totally could've happened to us! This is somewhat related to a question I was coming to ask though! How do you guys get stuff done with LO(s)? B will play by himself, but he doesn't like when I leave the room. So maybe only one in five times can I leave (even if he sees I'm making him lunch or something) without screaming. Also the kitchen is attached to his playroom so he can see me. Anyway, is there a way to encourage him to be able to entertain himself?
reginaphalange3 lo will play on his own, but we have the opposite problem- he finds ways to get into mischief. Our floor plan is really open so we only have gates on the stairs and going into the laundry room, so he can come and go pretty freely. If I really need to get something done without interruption, I'll put him in his high chair with playdoh or crayons and paper. If I'm really desperate I'll put on an episode of Sesame Street. He'll typically stay put in his little rocking chair for the whole episode. That's how I get showers on the days when he wakes up before I can hop in the shower. ourcrazynavylife I'm sure my time is coming for a story like that.
And for some weird toddler randoms: we were reading Pete the Cat and came across the word "groovy." According to lo, that word is hilarious and I can't say it without him breaking out into giggles. And during bedtime tonight he lay there making mooing noises to himself for like 5 minutes. They really are in their own little world, aren't they? That indignant look + that onesie. After bathtime. ❤❤❤
reginaphalange3 If leo doesn't play on his own while I cook then basically I let him cry. He won't watch tv for long or on his own. If he wants my attention then he's at my legs pulling on them. The most I try to get done is cooking, laundry and a shower. A shower these days means leo in the bathroom with my phone on netflix, but he'll usually open the curtain and whine/look at the water. I can't leave him alone or in his chair since he likes to stand up in it or jump around the sofas.

reginaphalange3 I jam a very large portion of the things I need to get done in her nap time. Other than that she's right there with me. I usually try and either involve her in the activity if it's safe (laundry, dishes). She loves to help unload the dishwasher. Or I find something to distract her while I do the other things. I usually put her in her high chair if I'm going to cook and she gets a snack.

reginaphalange3 my only other suggestion is find one or two toys that he really really likes and only bring them out when you need to get things done. Em is obsessed with play kitchen stuff at daycare so we're thinking of getting her some of her own because she plays so independently with it.
