It all started pretty fast really. I woke up at about 12:30am Monday to go to the bathroom (I was 35weeks 5days) went to our living room afterward as usual so I wouldn't wake up mh (since rolling over was so hard and I had to pee so often). Fell back to sleep until about 1:30, then is when the contractions started. They were not too bad I thought but timed them anyway. Right off the bat they were regular at 4-6 mins. But again i felt like they were not too strong. I was told that whem you couldn't talk through a contraction, it was time to go to the hospital. I never really got to that point. I was messaging with my sister. But I didn't tell her i was having contractions. I was really himming and humming about what to do, if it was really go time or not. After about a hour and 30min. With the contractions becoming a bit closer together and a bit stronger together I went to the bathroom and saw blood. I knew then that it was go time! Thank god the blood showed or I have no idea how long I would have stayed home for. We got the bags and headed to the hospital about a half hour away.
We arrived about 4:00am and the nurses took me right away to a labour room. She took out my pessary and checked me, I was 2cm dialated. Not much but the ring could have prevented it from getting any farther, i dont know. Hooked me up to the monitors and took some blood.
The contractions started to get stronger and then the dr came in to discuss next steps. I had requested a CS if possable for my panic/anxiety issues thinking that it would be better for my mental health and in turn better for the babies. She went through the things that can happen during the surgery and what not and let.MH and I alone to decide what to do. We decided to go with the CS.
Thats when things really spead up. I am not sure of the times any more about what happend when. But once we signed the papers dor the operation it was all speedy. The dr said their was no point going through pain of contractions if I was just going to have the surgery anyway.
We went through all the paper work for the epi and what not and was explained what would then happen.
Once the operation room was ready, I will assume it was about 6:30 or so they took me there to get the epi. I was pretty nervous about that, but found it not so bad. I think the first steroid shot I got for the babies lungs about a month earlier worse.
Once I was ready and prooved to be numb, mh came in all cute in his green scrubs. I was a bit nausous at this point, likely from nerves but it did go away after a few minutes. They started the procedure and very soon we heard baby boy cry, it was music to my ears! It was 7:25 am and as I wrote that right now I realised that he was also born on 7.25. Too funny! I heard him cry and cried myself. What a happy moment! The doctors let us see him for a few sec before the NICU doctors took him to check him out since he was early. Next came baby girl who also cried right way. And the same happened with her, we saw her and then they took her away. At that point mh went to see the babies. As they finished up with me. Baby boy needed some oxygen at the beginning but baby girl was fine. Mh got to cut the cord from baby girl.
After it was all done the babies went to the NICU and I went to recovery within a hour I got to visit the babies and hold them for them first time. At this point they were in different rooms because baby boy needed the oxygen earlier so he had a bit more monitoring. But later in the day he was fine and they are now together in the same little bed.
They are doing now. Baby boy has done amazingly and will likey be able to go home whenever I do. Baby girl however has had a couple heart alarms go off the last few days. So it is a bit up in the air when she can come home. She has to have a week without an alarm before she can leave. The alarm just means that her heart rate has gone unter 70 for a certain amount of time. This happens with early early born babies and doesn't mean she has a heart problem just that she needs to learn how to regulate it a bit better.
Me I am doing better now. The first few days were really really rough. And now I am mostly sore in the evenings. I am not sure when I will get discharged, but since baby girl.is here for a while I am in no rush.
