What are everyone's favorite board books to read with your LO? Our collection is kinda lacking and I want to order some more for her. Any recs?
Here's some of our fav. books/authors. Most classic kids books come in a shorter board book form. Pick ones that you would like to read, because you will read them 1000s of times. I like ones with good cadence, like Goodnight Moon or The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I also love ones with beautiful artwork. I don't love Dr. Seuss but the little board books are shorter and fun, and I like Put Me In the Zoo and Go Dog Go which are written by other Dr. Seuss authors. Dr. Seuss books go on sale at Target around his birthday. The "that's not my" Usborne books are great! Llama Llama books are good. Freight Train is a favorite. Abc, counting, shapes and animal books are easy to find.
I took the kids by my office to see some coworkers. I'm a contractor and I've been trying to get hired for months. Well they hired a new graphic designer. And no one knows I'm coming back even though I've talked to my boss about it and confirmed the dates. So now I'm sick to my stomach because we desperately need money and I don't understand why I wasn't considered to be hired. The guy has my desk...I'm just really confused and I didn't have a chance to speak with my boss. If I can't get work we are going to have to sell our house.
I'm sorry, that had to be quite the shock. Hopefully they have something else lined up for you and that you get reassuring news from your boss soon.
We had a play date this morning at the children's museum. The other mom had our kids hold hands when we walked from one exhibit to the next. It was soo cute! The kids got candy after and I got a giant coffee.
Tonight a sitter is coming and we are going out with friends. We chose the restaurant and they chose the pre activity which is pedicures!! I'm thrilled but this will be H's first. Such an odd thing to do as a couple, but apparently they do it quite often on date night. Also they sneak wine in a coffee mug. Here's to a crazy fun night I hope!

I'm so tired today. I had one cup of coffee and I'm thinking about another. I'm looking forward to getting out this afternoon. An old coworker is having a bunch of us over with our kids. Entertainment for DS and adult conversation for me. Win win! Not so good-Zika is officially where I live now. I think there's been 5 cases that were locally transmitted. It's scary.
Zika scares the shit out of me. Do y'all want more kids?

Thanks everyone! I'm going to get in touch with her next week and set up a face to face meeting, hopefully at the end of the week.
I've updated my resume and sent it for another job at a different location in the company. I also have a friend that works for the huge soda company here and I'm applying for a job there. I just want to be an actual employee for once in my life!!

I feel like super mom today. I was able to get both kids down fairly easily for afternoon nap. No driving necessary, which has been the case the past few days. And DS napped for a whole hour in his bed!!!!

I hope the talk with your boss goes well. Hopefully they are so busy they need you and the other guy. A lot of jobs I've been at are terrible about preparing for new people ahead of time, so maybe they stuck him in your spot temporarily. Or you get new, more awesome job!

No we're done having kids thankfully. I am a mosquito magnet though. I got 5 bites just at swim lessons yesterday. Dnw Zika.
So they know the long term issues with Zika? Like if you get it, do you always have it? If you always have it will it cause issues with pregnancies? I'm on the other side of FL. We are done with kids but I don't want either of my girls getting it.....

DH just took DD on a daddy daughter date to the movies. She was so excited. She picked out a dress and a bow to wear. And she even insisted on helping him pick out a shirt. He is more dressed up for date night with the 4,year old than he gets when he goes out with me

I'm not sure and I don't even know if they know. I was worried about it being passed through breast milk and that's thought to be safe. It makes me want to use mosquito repellent all the time for all of us but I'm thinking our babies are way too young.
I agree with you on both things. I asked my doctor in the very beginning about Zika and breast milk because if it's getting into one bodily fluid (semen) why wouldn't it be getting in to others like breast milk. She seemed to have the same skepticism. I haven't asked any time recently though. And yes, I think the babies are to young for bug repellent. And I hate the thought of having to put it on everytime we want to go out. I'm sorry it's in your area I'm sure it will make its way to The west side soon enough

We have a really busy day tomorrow. Whole family dentist appointment starting at 9:30am, then a two hour drive to DH's friend's housewarming party. So DH put the toddler to sleep... In our frigging bed. She's still up. I'm really trying hard not to kill him. I have no idea what he was thinking.

DS has been acting a little strange the last day or two.. Either ridiculously happy and smiley or very not happy. Apparently he's in the midst of a leap according to the app. I'll just blame that
The last couple of days when DS wakes up at 6:30 I've been bringing him down to the bed and get another couple of hours of sleep.... I always said I wouldn't but it's soooo tempting...
