We went up to the mountains and had hike and picnic. The 4 hour car ride was less than fun, but DD had a nice time and it was only 57 degrees up there so no sweating. DD wants to go swimming later and the dogs need a walk and we have no groceries. But I'm laying down. I need a nap. I'm 40 weeks tomorrow or the next day and carrying around a 35lb 3 year old is just too much.
DD3 either has a diaper rash or a sensitivity to Pampers. I've never dealt with that in a newborn. I've been putting a thick layer of aquaphor on at every diaper change and it seems a little better. Any other suggestions? Is desitin ok to use on a newborn?
For some reason I remember them telling me no diaper cream for the first several weeks..don't remember the reason. Can you switch diapers?
I might stop and pick up a different brand of diapers. It does look slightly better with the aquaphor though. I think it's because she poops with almost every feeding. She has a pediatrician appointment tomorrow morning so I will double check about the diaper cream.
My other girls didn't have any rashes until they were a few months old and she just seems so tiny.
Ok so: what's the deal with "gowns" for babies? Are they meant for sleeping or awake time? When do I want them in that vs a onesie?
Gowns are open on the bottom, which can make early morning diaper changes easier. Tiny snaps + sleep deprivation--no good!
Eta: not sure I actually answered your question (see: sleep deprivation). I tend to use them at night, or when we're hanging out at home, but you could use them whenever.
DD did this to! We brought a stool so she could look into the pack and play and that seemed to help her. Eventually she stopped insisting on getting in and puts her babies in it lol
I put a sheet over it to keep the cats out, now she is compleatly happy to play in her "cave" (aka the dark space between the sheet and PNP). She is also getting her two year molers, and has been generally off, so I'm trying to be extra patient and just let her be upset if she needs it, vs giving her medican.
We have molars coming in to!!! Impeccable timing these littles have we have one of four the second broke through today

We had one gown. We put it on a couple times because it had the fold-over mitten-sleeve things, which helped with ds trying to claw his face off with his sharp nails. It didn't help too much with overnight diaper changes since we used a swaddleme on top.
If you were going with a sleeper vs gown for overnight, gown is easier because re-snapping the bottom half of a sleeper is no joke when you're tired! If you were just going to use a onesie, that's a lot easier to not mess up.

Also, we realized last night that the PNP is set up right in front of the AC. Moving it would require moving the hutch/changing table out of the bedroom into the living room, which we were planning to do eventually but not until they grow out of the PNP.
So WWYD? Is it OK to have the AC on right next to where they sleep? Our room gets really hot during the summer so not using the AC would be unpleasant for all 4 of us.
We can put the bassinet hoods up so they won't be getting hit as directly. The noise could bother them as well as the air though.

I would think this is likely ok. Fans are recommended for anti-SIDS and the white noise will likely be soothing, unless the air is just bone chillingly cold.
Does the air conditioner let you change how the air flows into the room? Ours has vents that can be pushed up or down. I'd just push the vent to facing up as far as I could. That's what we did!
And the noise will be good for them. White noise is recommended for babies.
hollyberry I may have missed it but have you given an update on how the babies are? Anymore bradys from baby girl?
Baby girl is doing ok thanks. She hasn't had an alarm that counted for 2 days as far as I know. Baby boy just needs to prove he can gain weight and then he is free to go. Weekends are hard in the NICU since there is only one dr. Here at a time. They both passed their second exam. So when baby boy gains weight again and baby girl continues without a alarm we are free and clear. I am sure tomorrow baby boy will be on the up swing. He was only 10 g away from it today so I am sure we are almost there. Thanks for asking!

Having a lot of contractions so of course H is headed to his soccer game. I'm not sure if it's prodromal or the real deal but irritated either way at the situation that of course it's kicking up right before he is about to leave

I had a super lazy weekend of watching Netflix and keeping my feet up. It was glorious. My feet/ankles are looking great though. No swelling with my laziness!

Thinking of you, hannahbear, and hope all's going well!
joy I'm interested what you think of Cursed Child. I almost got it at 5:15 this morning, but the Amazon reviews at that point were pretty meh. The problem may be that it has a lot to live up to?
I forgot how sucky this part of breastfeeding is for me, with a history of supply problems. She seems to be doing better than either of her siblings, but I really don't know. She'll have her first pediatric appointment and weight check tomorrow, which I'm equal parts dreading and looking forward to (depending on what the scale says).
I'm planning on reading HP and cursed child after having the baby...figure it gives me some reading to look forward to.
This last weekend as a family of three has been lovely: went to the farm, made a yummy pasta dinner, went to church, farmers' market, and now visiting DD's great grandparents. I can't believe how much life will change so soon.
dc2london, love hearing about how your sons are adapting to little C.
hannahbear, hope all is going well so far and look forward to the update!
Is it still saturday? SO and I have lost track of days.. got home today! So for those with GD, Even though my sugars were realll high when I got diagnosed, I used insulin once since baby was born and sugars weren't really that high then either!
worst part so far has been coughing. or attempting.. I need to hack up a lung buuut hurts too bad so comes out as the most insincere cough ever.
I'm trying to be more active so my cervix will take the hint and kick into gear. Reorganized all the baby clothes today (we got a bunch of new stuff recently) and cleared out/organized space in the baby closet. Went for 3 short walks throughout the day. My back is killing me now but I feel good about it.
I wasn't going to post these but I can't help myself. Look at my proud boys POOF
Dag nammit! I missed like half a dozen photos this wkend on TCF b/c I was too nauseated and dizzy to log on - ugh! I'm sure they are super adorable with their new baby sister DC2L!!

Can you contact him if need be?
He said he would check his phone at half time. I have long labors so I'm not terribly grumpy at him just the timing of it all. His team is small so f he missed they'd forfeit. Games nearly over now....contractions on the other hand aren't. Not progressing but not subsiding.
